I have always liked this album cover - 1981 Toyah Anthem.

I have often thought about doing a figure based on the artwork.

Is there a figure like this or one that I could convert by adding wings and a decapitated orc head.

Any ideas on how to make transparent wings? - has anybody tried laser cutting?

Thanks
Mick

How about printer acetate for the wings - you might be able to scan something suitable for the yellow tracery and just cut them out with scissors?

Not sure about the figure though.

Unless you take something like a Copplestone cavewoman and add the clothes?

C25 - open handed so easier to add the severed head too.
Not the right hairstyle, and not quite the same build as Toyah, but it's a start.

Thank-you fastalfrus,
I think that the Copplestone cavewomen looks very butch.

The artwork is more ethereal - like an elf.

The figure does not need to be exact - I want something inspired by the picture.

I have been searching Reaper female elves and found this which is the right direction.

If you want a 2012 Toyah Wilcox fairy, rather than the 1981 version , then you'll need about 30% more lift surface to get her airborne. Less shocking pink highlights to drybrush though.  :D

Thanks everybody.

It looks like the best bet is Otherworld Sylph plus some greenstuff.

I am very surprised that there is not something closer.

If I have to go the green-stuff route, are there any good basic nude female figures as a start point?

Kev Adams of Hasslefree Miniatures makes some hot babes. Hasslefree also released a female armature recently-

This one could also be converted-

Dear Limaike,

That Hasslefree "HFL503 female armature" looks like a very good start point.

I have ordered a couple and will see how I go on.

Thanks

I found a set of insects at a Dollartree store. They are called glitter bugs and came with transparent wings with glitter on them. I bought some, clip the wings and attach them to figures I was converting for Fairy Meat.

I was a HUGE Toyah fan back in the day. It is nice to see someone else takes an interest. I can't wait to see what you do with this subject matter Mick.

The Hasslefree female armature arrived and  here is my first attempt at the sculpt.

I keep doing a bit then cutting it off again.

I will replace the ribbons from the severed head and the wire round the neck as they look too heavy in greenstuff.

The wings are a test - simply cut out from plastic clamshell packaging.
