What a great project.

Ah, the trials of pet ownership. One of my cats licked off about five hours of work from the surface of an egg tempera painting I had left on the table.

Now, it's my three year old human child that breaks my toy cars ;)

a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Ebob's doggies are rather good, you are right there.
So those along with those lovely wullifs should be a hit for so many genres.

Those weapon sprues are great too.
Gotta get me some of those.

All good stuff Steve. Those wolves look great and I can see them being used across a wide eange of genres. With the registered trademark thing I hope you don't go all GW and start trademarking 'dufflecoat', ' snowman' and so on!  lo

By the way, I'm now painting the house. Sorry it's taking so long!

Nice puppy dogs you have there Steve. Can i have a pat?  lol

Your rules are pretty simple, and very fast. We had two games last night of SSS 3.2. After the test games, and a re-read this morning of the rules I have a few clarification questions Steve.

1) P8, 1st Para. You have 1 set of hiding markers to use only once, on any character, on any turn. Is this correct? Then if a character has finding/sneaking they can use it over and over again.

2)P10 2nd Para. Flight. What is the dice roll needed to test in subsequent turns when a character is fleeing?

3)P9. No chainsaws? I think they would make a lovely addition at the 2 handed (L) area. Especially in a northern rural area fighting the undead. Fuel canisters could supply lanterns, fires and chainsaws. Chainsaws are then affected equally with the out of ammo event. (...where did i put that knife?)

I am using other models in a Fallout rule variation, but was wondering your intention on the following.

4)P9, 1st Para. Models are WYSIWYG, but what of duel wielding two swords in combat? The rules say that fighting only occurs with one fighting weapon.

5)Laser/Plasma weapons, we thought to use the same damage as pistols/SMG/Assault but with a fear test within 4" when anyone gets incinerated...

I have made fallout themed cards based on yours. If you want to look at the PDF's you can.

They are nice fun rules. We found it hard to carry/obtain the loot, as in the 'open' people die pretty quickly. I need more ruins/obstructions.

Cheers
Matt.

:'( oh dear. I hate when that happens.

The good news is this time it will be quicker to write and will make more logical sense. :)

Dammit.  Just finished typing a lengthy reply and the puppy jumped up = closed browser = lost reply.     :'(

Ho hum.  Time to start again........

That puppy of yours is really pushing it these days, following the 'truck incident'.

Is he called 'Lucky' by any chance?

Hi Matt. Love what your doing with the Fallout SSS. The appeal of the SSS game to me is the different type of game it offers. It's not 'Gears of Snow' with hulking military types walking into hails of bullets, its regular people trying to survive. What you are doing shows how flexible it is though. Translating it to radiation storms, etc. is inspired!

Steve's proposed zombie version should offer a slightly different experience again.

Cheers, Steve (a different one from SSS Steve!)

Awesome Steves. :) I found the SSS rules very simple and customizable to fit various scenarios of regular people trying to make it. I just had a huge hole in my heart when my vault dweller died..... Your random character generator is certainly helpful to get a supply of disposable red shirts. Lol

SSS Steve, that's a very comprehensive, and logical reply. Though with a main character duel wielding chainsaw and a pump action shotgun, (I called him Arnold, who else could do that???) it saddens me to hear you plan on making the chainsaw less effective against people than zombies. I played it as a 2 handed sword and it was bananas! Or I just had good rolls.

The flamer could have a chance to explode on a kill shot, thus showering everyone with fire within say 2". Makes them a character best played outside the group :/

As for the post apoc setting, I figured a blizzard is similar to a irradiated wind storm. Best not to stand out in that ;) but I did drop one of the small events in favour of a different event. I don't think it's that bad/windy in post apocalyptia as a volcanic winter. My events were rad scorpions and the fuzz turning up to patrol.

Not sure if this is helpful but we played a number of the rules incorrectly. Perhaps it was our misguided reading before understanding the flow... But we:
1) played up to 2 events per turn. (Was pretty funny when we got 2 out of ammo events.
2) activated every character, we missed the 2 activations rule.
3) our other failing was carrying items. As good dungeon crawlers we checked every inch, and picked up everything. So we ended carrying more than 1 large item, and didn't drop them upon shooting/fighting. Next time I would be inclined to use the group "camp" to store the found items. As even by the end of the game we didn't have enough items to support a 6 person gang. (Too much booze and not enough food! Hope they don't get the munchies ;) )

Oh goodie! Thanks Steve.

Will print it off and use for the next game. There should be less feedback this time :) In that case I had better build some more terrain to break up line of sight.

Cheers
Matt.

Grumble grumble new addition - I hadn't even managed a game with the last edition yet.... grumble grumble   ;)

It's always great to know that the rules are evolving to take into consideration our comments - keep up the good work mate!

Steve, They are brilliant! The Barricades came up really well, as did the camp fires!

What a stunning build and a labour of love.

Did you say vehicles? After seeing Blackwolfs positively amazing FW190 patrol car, Ive been postulating and planning my own post-apocalyptic 1/48 automotives. Based upon post WW2 vehicles without complicated electrical equipment, scrap and scavenged body parts. As a scavenger the best scale car kits are ww2 vehicles. I'm planning a US army truck with some kind of plane/bus back to carry my happy scavengers, a halftrack/car, and a light armoured 4x4. As such I'm pondering a few scenarios to find said team, said vehicle and needed parts to fix her. Like Mason's recent Bat Rep for the occupation of his witch hunters house.

I thought I'd share my ideas with you. Even a burnt out 911 must yield some interesting parts for a discerning scavenger with a quest to get to the equator.

Cheers
Matt
