Didn't quite finish the stock prep on Xmas eve so will be continuing that today.

In the meantime, lots of diecast vehicles on eBay for the Xmas rush presented an ideal opportunity to expand the vehicle pool.

All* of the new additions are in the range 1/54 to 1/58 with an aim of 1/56.  Absolute scaling is less of an issue when they are covered in snow!  Much work still to do but when the demo board expands next you there should be enough for an abandoned traffic jam.

In due course, all vehicles will be added to this page here:

http://sss.miniaturemojo.co.uk/index_vehicles.htm

The unimogs and the snow tracs will be allocated to the quasi-military enclave.

*The snow tracs are a mix of scales with the width being correct at 1/56.  I am dealing with the shortfalls in height and length by making a conversion kit (needs tidying) that I hope to cast in metal - a roof section, a rear section and track units to be epoxied in place.  Some have already been dismantled and had their Dettol bath.

Are you taking this to Salute Steve?

It would put many of the demo games there to shame.

Thanks all :D

Hah Paul, and nor am I avoiding necessary sacrifice (that's a hint towards that other project that's coming up for sale - haven't forgotten just lots of pictures to take ;))

Are you taking this to Salute Steve?

I've not committed to it Richard and so I suspect I am out of time.  That said I don't want to take it until it's ready for which a key thing is of course the rules. BLAM - the first really big game with lots of newbie players - threw out some interesting learnings and I had a lot of useful feedback both there and afterwards.  The next draft of the beta is being worked on but I am behind schedule with it (Steve - Elk101 - I haven't forgotten!  :o).  For a participation game at a major convention like Salute, methinks the rules really need to be in final form and the few months ahead will take writing, testing, rewriting, etc.  to the wire and I really only have the one chance to screw this up.  While some smaller shows (and maybe clubs) are still on the ToDoList, play testing at conventions could easily turn into a debacle!  ;)  Thankfully, BLAMers are really understanding.  :)

I guess you've vaccuumed the internet of those tracked vehicles now.  lol

 lol  Yeah I bought a few!  There are still plenty available though (Ebay UK).  I got mine for £3.50 to £5.00 each INCLUDING postage as I went for the playworn versions without tracks (I did buy the one with tracks but just to see how it sat, etc).

Have you considered knocking out some of the windows on those snow covered vehicles? By that I mean that other than looking nice, realistically wear and rust, as well as people smashing through them to loot the vehicles would have broken them. Some conclave roofs (or collapsed due to the supports rusting through) and front bonnets would be a nice effect too, though not so readily apparently with all the snow.

You've not exactly had a lot of free time from what I can see! Your approach to the rules has always been player orientated, so I have no doubt your revisions will be spot on. Let me know if you want a friendly eye casting over them!

@Wyrmalla
The next batch of vehicles will include more break-in and break-down damage....For example, I have a plan for a porsche driver to have gone through the windscreen (with kudos to Dr. The Viking who did something similar).

@Elk101
Cheers Steve, much appreciated.

And so to other news.....

The ICE troopers have been added to the store (www.miniaturemojo.co.uk).

The Infection Control & Elimination troopers will man an enclave/outpost and are tasked with limiting the spread of the infection (virus).   To this end, these faceless operatives are tasked with eliminating the zombies and controlling the movement south (or north if you're down under!) of the survivors.  They are the men of the wall (Game of Thrones), they are the seventh cavalry (1960s era westerns).

As urban warfare and close combat specialists they are armed with SMGs and short swords.  They are also adept at and equipped for cold weather survival.

Presently there are eight 28mm minis, priced at £7.99 for a pack of 4 or £2.29 each.

I'll get some painted examples up as soon as poss.  The rules for the ICE troopers, including for their vehicles, will be in the zombie supplement  (which I plan to release in January)

 :)

What a lead pile Steve!! Those troopers are cool ;) and I like your range of vehicles. The snow effect is great at covering detail, you could probably get away with making one vehicle then doing a vacuume formed plastic cast to sell? Or at least to speed up the gridlock traffic you have planned. Side detail looks pretty minimal for most of them, especially the trucks.

Regarding poses for blue heelers, I probably just say a walking pose like the dog walking next to Mad Max.

Cheers
Matt.
