I have to be honest, if someone handed me an ak, I would not be unhappy.  Lord knows it'll survive an extended operation with little to no upkeep, compared to other platforms. So if you have to go with one weapon choice, solid one.  To my mind, ammo is far more the concern than the actual weapon.  Whatever ammo is the most common in my particular area would drive my choice, baring the ability to make new cartridges on a regular basis.... is it possible to make them multiweapon capable?  Maybe come with a sprue of alternate weapons depending upon the personal game location and tastes?

Just taking a quick look maybe you can cast them with only the handle and then a few different assault rifles and perhaps an automatic shotgun.... :D

Another option would be G36's - used by the UK police force, various US SWAT teams, and lots of forces on the continent?

Thanks for all the most useful thoughts.

There are another two with AKs being sculpted (kneeling/standing aiming/firing poses), which will make up the first of the usual packs of four (as well as the singles). I realise that AKs are not common in the UK but there are guns in private collections, held by criminal gangs and also war trophies so I don't think that a few, in the possession of the toughest survivors is stretching it too much.  In the US and Europe they would be more readily available.

I like the idea of optional weapon ends but I'm also biased as at heart I am a converter who can't resist fiddly bits to change things around!  Others aren't necessarily so keen though so I think for the first releases I'd like to stick with one piece minis.  I think I know what I want to do, which I'll share when I've sketched it out a bit more. Hint: G36  ;) (thanks Zander  :D)

Also, this morning I have images of two more ICE Troopers that hopefully I'll post up later today: what every zombie clean up squad should have, a flamethrower and a sniper.  :)
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Another update.... lots of new releases coming into store now and in the next 10 days or so  :D

First up are four new survivors: £2.29 each or the four pack for £7.99

Please note that for each of these the forearms have been cast separately.  My personal favourite is running man with axe and bow, who also happens to be the hardest to cast (darn!).

Clockwise from top left,
- running with handaxe and compound bow
- thrusting with the chainsaw
- sweeping sideways cut with the two-handed sword
- flamethrower

As these have long pointy things they've all been a bit much for my camera to handle so apologies for the pics.  However, more close up images and from different angles in the store.

I've also added a 3 mini pack of multipart shambler zombies (infected): £4.29

Also I mentioned earlier that I had the greens for the sniper and flamethrower additions for the ICE Troopers (these are still wip as they need their short swords):

As mould making and then casting progresses over the next week or so, I'll be adding a couple more shambler zombies, more choices for the wolves, hopefully the conversion kit for the Snow Trac (fingers crossed!), some more weapon sprues and vac forms, and a few other bits.  With that lot out of the way I'll then be able to concentrate on the core and zombie rules releases.

You're making amazing progress with these. Your range is going to be more complete than some that have been around ten times as long! The great thing about the SSS range is its versatility; every figure could be used for numerous other games. This is an excellent venture.

Thanks Steve.  The range is certainly growing ... So far there are 38 survivors (2 are options), 8 ICE Troopers, 6 multipart zombies (infected), 9 canines and 5 casualties (plus all the other accessories, conversion bits, building kits, etc). This month I should also be releasing 2 more ICE, 4 Winter Militia, 2 more zombies, 1 more casualty and 2 more wolf variants. Then there's the 'to do' list of stuff next to be commissioned, which includes the ice axe survivor we've talked about!  ;)

Regarding the latest 4 survivors, I just wish I was able to get better pictures but the weapons, posing and white metal are a real challenge.  I guess I shall have to get them painted pronto  :)

Thanks Matt.  They also mix and match with the similarly constructed set of ragers  ;D

D'oh!   I misread your post and thought you meant the zombies.  It would seem that my BRAINZZZ have been depleted.  Yes, the survivors should have many uses, lol  :D

I am very new to the whole post apocalyptic gaming thing and always figured I'd just buy a few zombies and the odd survivor and be done with it... looking through your store just put paid to that though, I've been trying to resist for weeks but the release of the new survivors (the bow wielding chap in particular is fantastic) is tbe final nail in my wallets coffin.

I also love the vac formed facades and tents. Really innovative idea I thought.

If anyone is about in Hampshire UK area and fancies a game give me a shout!

Cheers
