Rise of the Occulites
« on: November 28, 2012, 06:37:06 PM »
Hey guys! I hope this is the right place to post this as it doesn't really fit the other catagories.

My friend Ben Boersma (Song of Fur and Buttons, GhostRangers, Nuttin but Net) has designed a game called Rise of the Occulites. We have been playtesting it for about a year and a half and it has gotten picked up by Eagle Games!

They have decided to go the Kickstarter route and that will start in January. I'll post more about it as we get closer, but for now here are some pics of the tribe miniatures. They were all sculpted by Bob Olley and cast by Eureka!

And his website and development blog:   http://www.darwin-games.com.au

Check it out. It is easy to pick up, but requires some thought to master.

I have seen the miniatures and think they are very unique in a good way. I wish him succes with the kickstarter.

PS are you from the Netherlands( Boersma is a name common in a province here)?

Thanks for posting mate! I had missed it before sorry.

Onimusha. I am from Australia, but the my father's side of the family are indeed from the Netherlands.  :D
Which province is it common in? I would be interested to see if that's where my family originated from as well.

Cheers,
Ben.

IF... If I was looking for a new funky large figures (bigger than 20 mm) fantasy set, this would be it!  I love what I see so far.

Fortunately for me, (unfortunately for you,) I am not looking for more fantasy (other than more Der Kriegspsieler Dwarves and Goblins from the person who owns the molds/rights for those currently) so no sale to me.

It looks like a lot of fun and maybe someone locally will pick this up and run a convention game.

Gracias,

Glenn

@Boromir, the province is called Friesland, their language is one of two regions in our country with a very different dialect. I live in the other one :P

Limbo...  lol

Nice range of minis! NOt to my personal taste, but they are certainly flavorful and unique. Best of luck with the game and miniature line! :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

@ Onimusha - The name originates from the North, but my father's father was originally from the Hague.

@ Glenn - Thanks mate. I will be uploading how to play videos as well, so you'll get an idea from those. If you ever change your mind the game will be waiting  ;)  :D

@ Daeothar - Thanks mate, even though they aren't to your taste, I appreciate the kind words.

Cheers,
Ben.

The figures are available directly from me at
www.darwin-games.com.au
But only for a limited time. They have been available for quite a while now, but since the game has been picked up by Eagle Games and the sculpts will be used in the boardgame, I cannot sell them while the game is in print. This means that I have limited stock available at the moment and that it won't be around for very long unfortunately as we will be focusing hard on the boardgame. That being said, the game translates very well from hexes to standard wargaming terrain.

If you are after something in particular before the game goes live, you can email me on benATdarwin-games.com.au

These are big, heavy metal figures and as such are expensive to cast and ship overseas. The figures in the boardgame will be plastic and produced en masse, so the cost may end up being similar as what it would cost to purchase in metal (costs are still to be confirmed though). The base game will contain two tribes and then expansions will have one tribe each in them along with more scenarios and other game related materials.

I hope that helps/clears things up a bit.
Cheers,
Ben.

Thanks guys! If anyone has any questions, please ask away!

Rob, I'll find out what the deal is with shipping and let you know.
EDIT: Eagle are looking into it, so the UK shipping is subject to change for the next day or two. I will post back here when I know what it will be.

Cheers,
Ben.
