Very nice - I agree on the Khorne guy. The red and purple works really well.

Seconded on washing the Nurgle guy if that isn't too much of a contradiction in terms  ;)

Looks sweet! I agree with the above gents, a glaze or wash of green will create depth.  Red guy looks great and I love what you did with his shield art.

Thanks Blackwolf, that is high praise from the 'build something' contest winner. I voted for you and your amazing nymph filled forest loch!

Hi beefcake, thanks, I had no idea what I wanted to do with those shields and just winged it. I am really enjoying your 'dungeon beasties' thread and I hope you keep it up. Love that Ogre and thanks for the basing tips.

Thanks Legion1963, keep your minis glossed, they remind me of awesome old school painting from back in the day.

Thantsants, that is the question: to wash, or not to wash a Nurgle Champion... actually I have been washing/glazing him but am not happy with him yet; hopefully soon though.

What's up Faust! Thanks for the comments, I had more patience with the red guy and am really happy with how his shield turned out as well.

Cheers everyone, I really appreciate all the C&C, more old school painting to come.

Hello everyone, today I am posting a Grenadier 25mm Knight, I decided to paint him red (and monotone) and get away from any any greens or whites. He was fun and quick to paint, this is the first time I ever used any of these round bases, I think they look pretty cool. It is also the first time I added some long grass/shrub to a base, for a first attempt, I think it turned out well. I added a shield on his back from my bits box, he has a strap along the front of his torso (which I painted brown) that ends mysteriously in the middle of his back, so I thought a shield belonged there originally.

Here he is, any comments are always appreciated:

Also, here are some recent buys from ebay, they are in the process of being stripped, I should have one or two painted by next week. These are old 1980's 25mm Grenadier skeletons, Grenadier made some larger 28mm skeletons in the 90's but I prefer these little guys for some reason.

Thanks again,
 Damien

The new Knight looks GOOD...FINE brushwork & basing! I seem to remember him as part of a King Arthur set...of course, I've been wrong before.

The Skeletons I did for a regular patron who had them from his boyhood. As I recall they were really horrible minis to paint. I hope you find them otherwise, & have FUN with the painting.

Hi DeafNala, they are a little rough around the edges but have a certain 'ugly dog' charm to them.

Thanks for the comments

Great additions. I'm late to the party but I really like those simple graphical shields on the chaos warriors. Looking forward to seeing those skeletons.

Love the grenadier skeletons, well to be fair anything grenadier did.
Knight looks pretty cool, he came from 6005 Knights, Fighters & Men at Arms, and your right there was a shield in the set you could put on his back http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Image:G-flbs-6005z.jpg

Like the base, I keep debating on whether or not I want to go over to them.

Thanks for the comments evand! I should get to those skeletons soon, have you posted up some pics? Post a link to your thread here, I would like to see it.

Hey Imp, thanks for the info, maybe I should have put a kite shield on him instead of a round one. I keep looking at those shields, they look really cool. To be honest I like the way the base looks but from now on I think I would only use it for special characters. I think having all my minis on these bases wouldn't look as good as having them on square ones. But of course that is your decision to make. I am painting some gobbos right now, maybe some blue skin......

Thanks for the comments guys,
 Damien

Round one looks good on him.

I think what I like most about those bases is the middle is recessed a bit so the old solid base guy's look a little bit more smooth on the ground. Still undecided because I know if I start I'll go back and rebase the rest of them. Not sure I want to do that.

Ohh blue skin gobbos, I like that idea..

I have finally gotten together all the old school Asgard Dwarves of my youth now, so I hope to get them all painted up at some point this year, other projects permitting.... ::)
Threads like this will keep that idea alive until I get the time.

I just bought a huge bunch of Asgard orcs to use as goblins from Viking forge. Great miniatures the old Asgard stuff even by today's standards.

Asgard minis! I keep going to their site and drooling over those minis, their dwarves, their barbarians, their orcs, etc, etc. All are fantastic, gentleman........START PAINTING! (and post those pics). Can't wait to see these minis.
