Looks great! I've got that guy on the to-do list as well.

For a long time I only had Sunburst Yellow, and I found that you can make the yellow a bit richer by mixing in a little bit of GW Flesh Wash. Too much turns it orange, but a little bit adds a nice warm glow.

You did a FINE job transforming a truly ugly mini into a little treasure. VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks einarolafson, I appreciate the feedback.

Hey Patrick, ah the good old Flesh Wash, I still have a bottle of it here, it fell out of favour when I discovered Ogryn flesh; maybe I should revisit it.

Hi DeafNala, I love how you hate most of the early Grenadier sculpts (skeletons etc)   lol, yet can still make me feel good; your comments are always the most innovative and appreciated  :D

Thanks for the comments guys,

Thanks Imp, I find he looks better 'in real life' vs. the picture but I think we are all struggling with camera issues.

Cheers,

Damien, you have done some really impressive work on some old forgotten miniatures!
It is nice to see a little love and attention being spent on them.

Hello Princess, thanks for the comment, as per yellow, try doing what I did and use bleached bone as a base. I then shaded the bleached bone with a little Ogryn flesh wash, then started adding small amounts of deep yellow to the bleached bone.

Thanks for the tip, Damien. I hadn't seen this, but I painted yellow on another knight the other day and I used Iyanden Darksun as a base; being a foundation paint, it has good coverage and doesn't show the undercoat. I used Gryphone Sepia for shading and highlighted with watered down Golden Yellow and then loghtened it withSunburst Yellow, also watered down quite a bit. Turned out quite well, I think.

Always good to swap tips! Might try your combination later on for a lighter, creamier yellow. Looks nice :)

Loving it all! I still haven't gone through each page yet, but everything I've seen has so much character.  We have a few of the minis you've done and it's incredible the depth you've managed to squeeze out of figures that I think look like lumps of lead (when they were unpainted, of course) if I'm more than a foot away.

Great job with the yellow too! I agree with everyone how difficult that is to get "natural". As you can see in my banner, we use it for VIVID detailing.

I'm a huge Nick Lund Orc fan (as you might be able to tell). The exaggerated facial features that he uses are lots of fun to paint. Were the goblins the same way?  My husband has talked me into trying Lund's Fantasy Warriors battlesystem. It just seems a natural thing to do with a horde of orcs.  :)

Enjoying your oldies and goodies,
Jev

Thanks for the comments guys (and gals)!

@ princess, I really like how your yellow turned out, I think I'll try your recipe soon.

Hello  Jevenkah, thanks for the comments, I took a turn around your blog and enjoyed looking at the pics and reading about your campaign. I really like all of Mr. Lund's sculpts but think that his Orcs, Hobgoblins and Ogres are especially inspired. Let us know how Fantasy Warriors plays (with lots of pics of all those great minis).

Thanks Thantsants, really enjoying your entries in the league.

Cheers all,
  Damien

Hey, nice to see that Grenadier norman, I like it quite a bit! I painted that one not too long ago myself. The copplestone knight is also great.
