Faber's Mordheim extravaganza - Bruto&Carogna - UD 3 Mar p.8
« on: 09 December 2012, 08:15:31 PM »
*a little OT*
I've been really really busy in this months past. On 6th November I finally finished university (final exam requested about 7 months of pretty hard work) and a week later I started a new job that is now eating my soul for 9-10 hours a day. I'm slowly getting used to it but it's not easy to find the right time for the hobby. My projects are starving :(
SO, I decided to concentrate on just ONE single project. Guess you understand that I'm talking about Mordheim.  ::)

*a little OT*

Well, to the topic. In this thread I'm going to post everything I'm going to create for my Mordheim project, apart from terrain that are now in a "frozen" status...(you can find what I've done in the link in my signature).

Today I'd like to share my new zombies. They are the first three walking dead of my undead warband.

As always, C&C welcome!
cheers

Faber

thanks pal. Feel free to borrow whatever, it's a honour for me :)

thanks pal. No, only GW here. Bits are from greatswords and corpse cart kits.

and it's looking good.

Very sensible of you to just do one project at a time. And a really cool one at that. I'm looking forward to seeing more Mordheim.

Far too sensible if you ask me  ;)

These zombies look brilliant - is that blood effect done with Tamiya clear red, or whatever its called?

Thanks mate, glad you like this project. You'll see something more soon ;)

Thanks mate :) Yes, it's Tamiya clear red...one of the best color I've ever seen...well, for doing blood and nothing else. It's just perfect. I've added black purple and brown to obtain a darker blood to represent old injuries and I've used it pure to represent "fresh blood" (e.g. on z's hands)

About how sensible is my choice of doing only a project at a time (and for the moment, one project at all)...I think it's pretty a good idea but -correct me if I'm wrong- I think to get the sense of what Thantsants said. It's a big limit to creativity, I know...but I need to find at least a main theme in my hobby life to give my work a sense. A lot of nicely painted figures are cool, but a complete set for gaming is fantastic. I have not the time to create more than one, actually I need to make a choice. Mordheim is my favourite background and with some adjustments it's a really funny game to me.
So I'm going to create more warbands at the same time: the only limit is the Mordheim setting and I feel free to adjust it to my taste. So, overall, I think this is a good compromise for me to live the hobby nicely.

Anyway this is a sort of "transition moment" in my hobby-life (and real life too, actually  ::)) and your thoughts about it are much appreciated guys :)

Absolutely. Those are easily some of the grossest zombies I've seen in a while. Really great corpse-y look!

Averlander zombies, excellent. Great concept and execution. Perfect for Mordheim, ripped fresh and bleeding out of the cursed earth!

My favourite is the one with the feathered cap: his little eyes and his face are fantastic.

Many thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated :)
I have a lot of Mordheim stuff ready to be painted...I'll share some pics of WIP stuff too...
...and probably will prepare some new zeds: kitbashing with those two great GW kits is a real fun. :D

@tomogui: well, they are casually Averlanders... I simply thought yellow+black was  a proper choice for them. The zombie henchmen group is called "the Conscripts". I imagined them as a defeated imperial warband: fresh meat for the necromancer :)

***

Waiting the bits needed to create my Vampire (warband leader), I started thinking about the necromancer and I decided to repaint an old creation of mine.

Just a teaser, this is the old creation (someone of you have already seen it):

I'm going to reapaint the cape and the OLS to give him a proper necromancer style. Any suggestion?

The book looks FANTASTIC! GREAT WORK!
With the exception of Victoria Lamb's work, I really don't much care for OLS; so any comments I would make would be biased & generally unhelpful. That aside, I am looking forward to your progress on the Mordheim Thingies.

The zombies go to show what fun can be had with plastic kits! Very nice! The wizard is amazing!
