I think to get the sense of what Thantsants said. It's a big limit to creativity, I know...

Actually I was just being facetious in view of the many projects I seem to be ineffectually waving a brush at at the moment!   ;) lol

I think you're quite right and Mordheim with all its little warbands, as you say, is a very good choice for maximising creativity.

I certainly feel your pain at your life being swallowed up by work - I'm on the go from about 5.30am (walking dogs and getting to work, till about 8.30pm when I finally sit down at my painting desk. About 10 hours of that is spent at work - the remaing time is more dogwalking and boring stuff like eating and driving!

I've carved myself a little niche of time on weekday evenings to crack on with painting and am only limited by the length of time I can keep my eyes open - its definitely a tonic to what is usually a pretty irritating and long working day!

You do right to be selective and go for a cohesive approach to your hobby time  :)

Not a big expert on OSL either, but don't all the cool Necromancers wear purple?

Wow, those zombies are incredible, I showed them to my girlfriend as she was passing by and she looked ready to puke; so they are spot on! The gore, the poses and those bases are fantastic! Are you going to build/paint one warband or many?

Great stuff

Thanks all for the kind words fellas! Much appreciated! :D

@Damien: many warbands! :D
Today I'd like to share with you my progress with the dwarfs gang.
I had always loved the heroquest dwarf hero...A friend of mine used that adventurer as his mordheim noble and I think this is a great idea. So...I stole the idea and made my own noble on that concept.
so, from this:

with a little convertion:

...and painted:

...and with some friends ;)

Next in my production line will be...
the slayer!

As always, comments and criticisms are welcome! :)
Cheers

That dwarf leader is really cool. Especially seeing that the original miniature is  from Heroquest I must say you did an outstanding job painting it. And I love the dwarven pals of his.

Mordheim will forever hold a special place in my heart as it was that game that brought me back into painting and playing. And I got to meet a lot of really nice people playing that game. Apart from that I think Mordheim is also an almost perfect setting for people with only little time. It is both a very rich background that allows for lots of creativity and you don't need to paint gazillions of models to play a decent game. Good choice!

Great stuff, Faber!

The zombies are great examples of creativity and imagination and those Dwarves look great.
Top paintwork on all, but that Noble takes the biscuit.
Superb!

Thanks guys  :D

@Domhippie: quote for all you said, pal. I have to add that Mordheim bakground is my favourite background ever. A dark ruined town full of decadence in a fantasy setting...that's the happiness receipe for my taste.
About the noble..I have to admit I'm really proud of it. I've been helped for the coinversion by a great friend of mine but the painting had been my personal challenge. Heroquest dwarf is more a toy than a miniature and painting was very hard. A real satisfaction :D

@Mason: cheers pal :) Zombies were really a funny work. I'm plannig another couple of them but I have so little time...Anyway, I have to say thank you for your "miner special rule"...You gave me the motivation to find a miner charachter for my warband and I've now found a wonderful one to paint. You'll see my miner hero painted as soon as possible :D

That is a SPLENDID start to what should be an OUTSTANDING War Band. The antlers really make the Dwarf Noble something special. All of the Lads benefit from some WONDERFUL brushwork & basing. VERY WELL DONE!

Faber.....this guy is SICK!! What a difference you made on a mediocre sculpt, absolutely fantastic and don't even get me started on the paint job. I love the subtle highlights, he fits right in with the other dwarves; great stuff.

Thanks guys for the kind words! :)

I'm trying to give some sort of a theme to every warband: dwarfs are the vintage ones (just as undead are the kitbashed) :D I bought a lot of marauder stunties and I'm eagerly awaiting for some time to paint them...
Let's see what I can achieve...

Faber, that conversion on the dwarf noble is just brilliant - really effective and utterly changes the feel of the figure. Well done!

As mentioned above the Nobel is fantastic...love the painting on his horns in particular.

I must say that the addition of the second axe to the Marauder Slayer looks pretty good as well.  We recently had a discussion on Bugman's about how there is actually two different casting of that slayer...one with and open hand...as seen in the catalog picture:

And one like you used with a closed fist...as seen in this is pic...sorry about my 1990 PJ!  :o

I now Have copies of both...because I'm obsessive like that... o_o...and I was concerned about how similar they would look in a unit...I may steel your idea of a second weapon to differentiate them from each other a bit more.

Cheers...keep up the excellent work!

Faber,

Looking good as always. Such a stunning conversion for a old fig. Nice to see what you can do with a little imagination and some time. :-)

:D I'm really happy to see that you like the noble, guys!

@Mr Rab: thanks pal! I have to say that the original figure is not a very good cast but it's a pretty nice sculpt imo. Actually, I was inspired by a friend of mine (a painter far more talented than me! my menthor, I could say) who used this mini as his warband leader many years ago...He did not any conversion but painted it perfectly and the result is really cool anyway. If I had the chance I would take a pic of his noble this weekend.

@Blue: thanks pal! Horns were painted at least four time before finding the right technique. Never painted deer's horns before  o_o
BTW, that slayer is really a fantastic mini...one of my favourite dwarf ever! Actually, it is the first "warhammer dwarf" I've ever seen and I found it so cool that I started to collect dwarfs :D I was unaware that there are two different cast of it! BTW, I'm pretty happy of the conversion too...a troll slayer always needs two axes IMO!
PS: your PJ in 1990 was not that bad! Anyway, for sure better than mine at that time: in 1990 I was 2 years old!  :)

@Grimm: thanks pal :) I'd like to have more time to spend for the hobby...Hope to achieve some progress this weekend.

Anyway, it has been quite a long period since the last time I posted some models of mine here on LAF, but I have to say that it's always a pleasure to share them with you guys! :)

cheers!
