Our gaming group have been playing Strange Aeons for the past eight months or so.
One of the main groups of Lurkers (the Bad Guys) featuring in our campaign are the Mad Scientists and their creations (The Asylum), which included various experimental creatures which included a number of Zombies, so a detour into a Zombie Apocalypse seemed a natural progression.
The campaign that our group have been playing in had a British setting instead of the traditional U.S. enviroment, so the collection of miniatures featured were from Good Old Blighty.
One thing led to another and the upshot of all this is to run a campaign where each player has a group of Survivors (as in The Walking Dead) that they must lead through a series of encounters and to attempt to survive and prosper in a land now filled with the Living Dead.
Being set in Britain in 1929 should put a slightly different slant on things, the chief one being, compared to most Zombie outbreak type games, will be the availability of firearms.
Britain has always had stricter gun controls, so it will not be a game where every survivor has a firearm of some sort. Guns will be much more difficult to locate, as will ammunition.
This will be countered by the fact that stealth and careful planning will be rewarded, as each use of a firearm will result in more zombies on the board, attracted by the noise.
We should start playtesting this idea soon, next wek hopefully, with the game getting a thorough going over in the new year.
I already have a few zombies painted up (ten or so...), but will be needing much more, of course!
There are twenty based and undercoated, and another thirty or so still on sprues ready for converting (flat caps and trilbies will be the order of the day).
So, plenty of zeds to convert and paint in the next couple of months, and a few more suitable miniatures to source that are not armed to the teeth.

To set the ball rolling, here are the first ten period zombies for the project:

The Entertainers

The Zeds in Suits

The Hospital Staff and Patients

Flat Cap and a couple of possible additions

Not sure about the Mummy and the Elictric Chair Occupant, but I will use them for now until I have a few more painted up.
In a horde they would not be as noticable, anyway.

Its a start, just a few more to do.....

This is going to be so so awesome!

The walking dead?! That's just not cricket.

Looking forward to the approaching horde  8)

The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

Thanks, chaps!

The walking dead?! That's just not cricket.

It may not be, but there will be cricket bats involved!

Progress will not be too prolific until the new year, as I am tied up with another project at the moment.

There are quite a few 1920's Survivor types in the collection already, so that is sorted.
Playtesting can commence.

There are also quite a few cars already weathered, I just need to get some stowage and pop it on with a magnet.

Here are a couple of those already done and awaiting 'stocking up'

Please excuse 'Shotgun Bob', the car-dealing Cultist, he keeps appearing everywhere!

EDIT: Forgot to mention. Can anyone recommend any good cheap options for stowage?

Playtesting will have to be put off until after the holidays, as trying to meet up with anyone at this time of year is a bit of a bugger.

The base rules will be the Strange Aeons set, with a few simple modifications to make them work in a slightly different way. The main change will be the campaign system, where you will run a group of 'survivors' in a similar way to running a warband in Mordheim, or a Threshold team in SA.
The group will be collecting resources that will have to spent on food, fuel, ammo, etc and the remainder used in a similar way to Map Pieces in SA to play specific scenarios on the way.
A series of scenarios will need to be completed to continue along the 'Survival Path' and eventually lead your group to a safe place.
This will of course need some playtesting to get the balance of 'Resource Points' achievable in each game correct, to make sure that it is not either too easy or too difficult.
The upside to this break is that I will have time to get all the extra rules etc typed up.

And paint up a few more figures, of course...

I can't think of a better time for the End Times than 1929...it would go along nicely the Great Depression. The idea of a past Post Apocalypse is very appealing to moi..your LOVELY minis & vehicles,of course, are also most appealing.
This will be yet another great thread to follow once the "C" Word is over with.

Wonderful work so far!  Your weathering on the vehicles is fantastic!  I recognise two horrorclix figures
in the hospital patient row... who makes the figure on the right?

Looking forward to how this project develops! :-*
