Second edition of Carpathia?
« on: 12 December 2012, 05:32:52 PM »
I am casting around for Goalsystem projects for 2013, and I am wondering if a second edition of Carpathia, in a really nice hardcover book like I did for Delves, might be something people would like?

I would have to use Kickstarter to generate the funds to get such a book printed, but having learned some lessons from the first time, I'd like have the layout done and the PDF released to backers at least two months prior to printing to give the rules a good shakeout and catch any errors and omissions.

I guess the first thing to determine is if there is a desire for such a book?

And if so, what edited and additional content does it need?  So much great fan stuff has been done, I'd want to look at some of it and see if we could work it in. Anyway, just putting this out there informally to gauge interest.

Thanks!

I would be interested in a hardbound copy of Chaos in Carpathia.

Not me, I fear it will be necessary to sell of Gothic Horror rules and miniatures to meet retirement downsizing goals in 2013.

well, it goes without saying I would be in all the way. I've always wondered how many folks out there play Chaos in Carpathia, other than me and Tenz that is  ;D

Splitted the old thread, that topic is worth to get an own one.

I would be in for sure but I would definitely like to see all the Tom Weiss new warbands and special things(Pet Animal etc.) in the new book.

I'm a massive fan of the rules & also a total rulebook-a-holic so you can definitely count me in. I can never resist a shiny new publication.

I'd be up for a nice hardback copy. I already have the CiC rules in PDF (not played nearly enough) but you can't beat a book in my opinion.

It's looking to be one of my projects for 2013 as I concentrate on smaller skirmish wargaming.

Definitely count me in. I would like to see the non-combat aspects of the game expanded - investigation, character interaction, doing things.

The rules are wonderful, especially combined with Chaos in Cairo to add warbands such as undead (Mummies), Cultists and Explorers Society (Archaeologists).  It would be nice to see Jekyll and Hyde, Holmes and Watson, Dr. Moreau, etc. in a London type expansion to the game.

I'd be in--although I'd rather see Chaos in Cairo and with new minis too. Chaos in Cairo is pretty unique, whereas Chaos in Carpathia will be competing with Empire of the Dead, won't it?

I wouldn't say the game complete with each other. Two awesome games to choose from in a miniature gaming genre as specialized as Victorian Gothic Horror is wonderful in my experience. Also, there has been a substantial amount of fan-based game development over the past couple of years for Chaos in Carpathia - Double the number of warbands, new scenarios, objective cards - and there have been a substantial number of folks requesting copies of this material so I'm confident the players are out there.

Of course, the ideal situation, assuming Carpathia 2nd edition was successful, would be to use Kickstarter to release an entirely new Genre. I would just love to see a Chaos in... well, a lost world of some kind that would allow players to choose (1) Lost World Explorers/Hunters/Professors, (2) Cavemen (3) Dinosaurs or Ice Age creatures - wouldn't it be great to play the actual prehistoric creatures against the humans?... and (4)... well, I can't think of another faction.

The Chaos in... series would be great if fully developed to represent the Prohibition Era Gangsters, KKBB spies, Back of Beyond Pulpiness (white russions, reds, chinese, european mercs). Such a great ruleset.

I'm very much in line with Jet.
EOTD and CiC are two very different games that supplement each other quite well.

With the extended warband lists and the secret objective cards the game is already in a very good state. It would be nice to see these incorporated in the rules so everything is one place. There should also be well working additional scenarios and I'd like to see narrative campaigns with specific characters like Cairo 1st edition. There are many intersting things that could be done with Carpathia.

It would be nice to see ... Dr. Moreau.... type expansion to the game.

If you use the Frankenstein warband and any of the human monster hunter warbands from the alternative warband lists you can easily play Dr. Moreau style scenarios.

I've never played it nor seen the current edition, but it always seems to come highly recommended.
