Field of Glory - Samurai
« on: January 06, 2013, 05:20:30 PM »
I really like the Field of Glory rules (as well as FOGR and FOGN), Samurai armies are one of my favorites and I am a big fan of 1/72 miniatures. Three good reasons to start a FOG Samurai project. Together with Vasa (better know as orthodox) I would like to present a FoG Sekigahara scenario at the Hamburg TACTICA 2013. By now, I have painted 6 units and 2 commanders.

The miniatures are more or less form ZVEZDA. In the first picture you can see one of the 1/72 miniatures next to a 28 mm Perry Samurai. As you can see there is really no big difference in detail...the Zvezda miniatures is even better.

I also made conversion for some "marker"-bases.

Here are some of Vasas miniatures

...and some pictures of my units:

Fantastic! Amazing!

If I may ask, what paints do you use for the soft plastic 1/72nds? I understand they're prone to losing said paint without some extra processes first?

More than impressive... makes me want to make an army as well. it would never become like this, though.

has.been...you must notice the emoticon sir...it's winking...you're British so you should recognise deliberate understatement ::) and realise it means that's the mutt's nuts!
Exemplary work especially considering they are soft plastic...could you let us know how you prepare the figures for painting perhaps??
Cheers

Thanks a lot!  :D

I didn’t prepare the soft plastic miniatures. This is only necessary with some very old soft plastics. The plastic used by Zvezda is very easy to paint…but of course you need a good ground coat (spray). By the way, half of the miniatures from Zvezda are made of hard plastic…the stopped to produce in soft-plastic last year.
