I need help - VSF Norse Lennsmenn

I have the Lennsmenn, who are American-trained cavalry who ride bulettes instead of horses, and serve as Texas Rangers/ US Marshals for the state of Free Norway.  I have one of them that I was going to do as a flag-bearer (I am using a flag from the Dark Elf Corsair set, because the GW flags really are well done) and paint the flag as a Norwegian flag, but I wanted to put a symbol in one quarter of the falg for the Lennsmenn, and I don't know what to use for a marshall/sheriff force of cavalry.  Crossed sabers, maybe? ANyone have a suggestion that won't be a nightmare to either paint or find transfers for?

How about a Norwegian flag with a white star in the upper left quadrant to give the Texan reference?

A plain star or a star in a circle was a common badge of law enforcement in the western frontier. So a star would be very appropriate.

I'm unsure as to the exact status of your 'Free Norway', I seem to remember they have a 'King Olaf'; so perhaps the 'marshals' should be showing some badge related to the (real, and royal) Norwegian police force, like a crown (or lion, or fasces...). If you google 'Norwegian Police badge' there's a couple of fine illustrations pop up.

On the other hand, the star-in-a-circle could be a nod to the Texas Rangers you mentioned, whom I assumed you meant did the training.
