The forth is strong after dusting off the old Morannon figures for a game with or two of LotR with Dr. The Viking. Time to do a few more methinks and maybe even start a new army!

I'm in on this. We'll play through a few scenarios. And hopefully a journeybook.

Very nice! That troll is really cool!! Is this perchance the influence of the Hobbit and maybe revisiting the LOTR movies?  :D
I'm in that situation and am in the process of painting Elves and Orcs, although I am planning to fiddle about with Dux Brit and create a variant for LOTR type games, as I think that could be most enjoyable and as Tolkien's world is militarily Dark Ages/Early Medieval in scope, I'm sure that Dux Brit is ideal.
Not to say I won't play LOTR with mine though, as it's a good system.

Do post some more pics of your forces, especialy Orcy types as I need  inspiration for mine!!

No problem Andy, I have some warg riders and Mordor Uruk-hai awaiting assembly, and Gothmog on the painting tray.

There's just the small matter of the last of my British force for Dux to finish off first ;)

They look good! I love that there have been so many middle-earth topics lately.

Here's the newer version of Gothmag, somewhat larger and more true to the film than the early version I think:

Next up a warband of 12 Mordor Uruk-hai and then it's on to the Rohirrim (and more warg riders!)

I never much cared for the movie design of Gothmog. However, especially the rider miniature is pretty good, I have to admit. Nice post.

I'm not sure if this is another Dr. V et Janner thread, but I will have the audacity to post my fresh of the line and already chipped Captain of Minas Tirith.

The figures are quite small, I think, and painting eyes presents a particular challenge. Luckily my patron saint of gaming presented me with fresh brushes so now I actually attempted eyeing it out!

Please appreaciate that this is a compromise between paint and speed. I would much prefer to paint the cloth another colour than that of black, as it is dull to me and doesn't contrast the forces of Mordor proper.

What is the popular opinion on using the film miniatures but going with different schemes of colour application? ???

 lol

Well, I think it is quite alright as long as you have some kind of idea why you take different colors. And what looks good in the movies need not automatically look good on models and vice versa. So take whatever color you like.

I tend to have certain attributes connected with colors (blue - noble, black (either) - noble or evil, red - agressive etc). So I tend to paint the models in whatever color I think is most appropriate from a character's point of view.
