I think it looks bloody good on those trolls.
Most apt.

These will be used as either Dunlendings or just some of the men from the hills mentioned in my Angmar sourcebook.  :)

Not the best figures but I gave them a very quick basecolour, wash, drybrush treatment... I should probably do a bit more work on them but it will not be now.

They are Mithrill Miniatures figures.

Cool. The hillmen of Rhudaur were related to the Dunlendings so a similar culture and appearance is very liekely. Love them. Are they really Mithril??? They look so much more three-dimensional than those old Mithril miniatures I remember. Or are we talking a different company here?

The Hill Men are Warlord Games... the trolls on the LAST page are the MIthrills I'm talking about.  lol

It all depends, really. But in essence they scale badly with the old miniscule plastic Rohirrim, less badly with the old plastic Gondor and just fine with the newer stuff (and a lot of the old metals).

Size consistency is somewhat lacking within the range as is. Janner could show a comparison that underlines this very effectively with his command group and rohan plastics.

I'm not going to use GW miniatures other than Mordor figures for my foray into Rhudaur gaming, so it is of little consequence to me. If I am to field the warlords as allies for Isengard I think it would still work as they're big fellas those Dunlendings.  ;)

Great additions, sir.
They work perfectly as Dunlendings.
 :-* 8) :-*

I am glad that you posted them, as I feel that I may need a couple myself in my Army of the Dead.
Cheers!
 :D

They are Mithrill Miniatures figures.

Thanks for the ID on the Trolls.
THAT is a blast from the past.
It must be at least twenty years since I last clapped eyes on them.
No wonder I forgot.... ::)

That's true I suppose, as long as they don't end up looking like half-trolls.

Janner and I have had some 4 games so far I think. But we didn't take any photos. After all there's more to gaming than posting stuff on the net.  ;) lol

Here's a brief size comparison of Warlord Games and GW LOTR Gondor and Mordor

If I'd done away with their integral bases they'd be even closer to the mark I think.

I've decided to turn the whole LOTR thing in to a small mini campaign (if only in my head) about the time when the Witch King invaded Rhudaur. The Hill men will probably be fighting alongside some Conquest Games Normans against the Orcs of the Witch King.

I'm going to buy some Conquest Games Normans or Perry Miniatures Mercenaries to use for it.
