Barbarian Warband
« on: 22 January 2013, 08:18:03 PM »
Hi all,
Thought I'd man up and show some of my painting on here then.

I'm working on a new warband for Mordheim. After seeing Admiral Benbow's barbarians I couldn't resist. Here's where they are so far:

I have another half dozen of the grenadier models to act as the henchmen, then the other version of HF's Wolf along with the one above to be berserkers. Then Heresy's Boris Mk2 who is either going to be the leader or perhaps a half-ogre hired sword.

Bases will all get done at the same time when I get go outside and spray (snow isn't conducive to a good finish ;) ).

Cheers for looking,
Si

The Wild Boys look just as OH-SO-COOL here as on Tom's; AND just as VERY WELL DONE!

I know that feeling, since I saw the admirals Thread I am looking constantly at those Minis, love the use of Hasslefree Wolf.

How do they compare Scalewise to GW Warhammer Minis? I would love to get some but only if they fit with all my other stuff...

Keep it up :)

Nice clean paint work there. The tattoos/body paint work very well (I usually struggle with stuff like that).

Thanks all, really appreciate the comments and support!

Theatralic, scale wise the Grenadier stuff is spot on. Wolf is supposed to be a lot taller than the average man and Boris is of course a beast. Here's a scale shot I did for my site:

The pencil line behind is 28mm, in retrospect I should have picked a GW mini standing upright but oh well ;)

I'm really happy with the tattoos. So glad I read something that said paint them before you wash the skin, tattoos are in the skin not on it. So I base coated skin, base coated tattoos, then wash, then highlights on both. Don't get me wrong I know I won't win any awards, but I aim for clean and effective models and I love the unifying feel of the tats on these guys.

I'm currently painting up the next three, will add to this thread when I have more to show.
Cheers,
Si

Nice work, they look great!
 :-*

I am another fan of those Grenadier classics, so I wish you fellas would stop posting them, or I will cave in and buy some soon... >:(
 ;)

Looking forward to the next three!

Thanks alot _Si_, really appreciated, they are perfect! And I am also amazed by Wolf since I could easyily use him too which isn`t possible with alot of Hasslefree models.

Thanks again!
