I read all these as a kid. Looks really good idea.
My memory is going a bit though. Does anybody remember the story line with the gun ships hidden in a crashed ship?
They were the sort of helo gunship of the setting. What were they called? What was the story called. Where can I get it?

As I am not familiar with KS at all... how does the funding part function then, how can I get onboard?

My only real comment on the KS itself for RT is that I hope the pledge levels are better streamlined and more realistic.

As it stands now, there are three levels (£25, £50 and £75) that are essentially identical in that you get a "set" for every £25.

I think there needs to be an entry level (three figs or so), a basic level (1 or 2 sets) and then a value-level (say 3-4 sets for £65/$100) which is where much of the loot gravy will be. Then, higher levels for the gotta-have-em-all crowds, although I would prefer to see multiples of the "value" level instead.

Doing this means the following:

- People can pledge at lower levels if they just want a few figs and to support the KS.

- People can still get a set or two at a better-than-retail price, even without most of the stretch goal extras (essentially a pre-order offer).

- People can buy-in at reasonable cost and gain most of the stretch benefits.

- Higher levels being multiples of the value level means that it is easy for folks to see what they are actually getting without the labyrinthine complexity that puts me (and others) off joining many KS projects.

- There is no reason somebody cannot pledge for a value level and a basic level is there? (In effect getting 2-5 sets for around £100).

Like I said, keep the levels low-ish, allow pledges for multiple levels, and it all keeps tracking the KS offer simple and inviting.

Towards the end of the JD KS I was struggling to understand what I was getting, what was on offer, and felt a bit left out in that unless I was prepared to drop serious money I was effectively just pre-ordering for around retail prices. I did pledge in the end, but at a much lower level that I could have because I found it confusing and the buy-in was set too high for many of the freebies that I wanted.

Having participated in a good number of KS projects now (too many perhaps!) I have a feel for what I'm looking to support and the way I'd like to support it. Projects like Battle for Alabaster or Dreadball got complicated the end (due to lack of pre-planned stretch goals), but were easy to join and get a good deal at a reasonable buy-in. They both got very high funding levels when they finished too.

Getting enough people in at a reasonable buy-in with decent loot also spreads the KS by word of mouth/blog much faster and gets higher numbers of pledges. This makes reaching much higher funding levels exponentially easier as the stretch goals and extras mount up. It also promotes the project to a wider audience faster, beyond those that participated in the KS to start with or were at least aware of it. Good examples are Zombicide and Super Dungeon Explore (which gained huge publicity even after the KS was closed).

Marauders mate. I've got it in one of the old titan books. As its a classic I'm sure it'll be in the current collection books.

Nooooooo! Rogue Trooper was (is) my favourite 2000AD character. The figures look great too. I just have to pretend I didn't see it. I really don't need another project! The only thing is, while I'd pay £3 for a one off character figure, £25 for 8 troopers seems a lot, to me at least. £50 just to have 8 figures a side is more than I'm happy to pay. I really hope it's a success though.

LOL, exactly the reason why I did not pledged...
You raised some VERY good points, hopefully Matt will listen!  ;)

Well said Scurv, amen to that.

Now, one more pressing matter for me is to know how I can get into the KS!  >:D

Watching this too, and can't help but agree about 'current' (may change went KS goes live) entry level pledges - seem to be £100 as the 'standard (effective) entry pledge (5 sets + 3 GI) which isn't much of an insentive (but do-able if i have too, at least it's only 2 months gaming funds)

As for other 'strips', +1 for Nemesis (the Arch Bigot himself which be great). Pictures in the Planet Mongoose JD KS thread also showed master (?) for BlackBlood and Joe Pinapples - so ABC warriors might be a possibility, too.

I still have most of the 2000ad comics from 1 to around 1000 when I stopped.  Loved Rogue Trooper and always thought it would make a good TV series for HBO, shame it will never happen.

Very tempted by the new figs but have only just finished 2 other kickstarters, not sure if I have time to paint another load of figs, have to see.

I have a feeling that £100 might be the first level of stretch goal goodness, if not then £200 certainly will as it is only double the £100 with no other bonus!

It's a great relief to my credit card that I've never been a fan of Rogue Trooper. Once the line gets on the way I may pick up a few bitz and bobz tho.
