About 30 years ago I had a drink with a Gallipolli veteran (a German gunner) whilst on a bizarre holiday to southern Germany. That same week I had lunch in a bar run by a cook from the Tirpitz and breakfast with a group of Afrika Korps veterans.

What a war-stories-fest that must have been!

Hi Folks, I just copied their future ideas and next release:

TWDC's The Great War In The East Range
We get a lot on enquires about plans for The Woodbine Design Company's Great War In The East Range so we thought we'd set up this page to explain current thinking and sketch out forthcoming release plans as they are made.

The Woodbine Design Co support 'The Easterners'!
The Woodbine Design Company (TWDC) is planning to cover in depth the Gallipoli, Palestine & Mesopotamia campaigns plus other 'Side Show' theatres such as West & East Africa. There is even talk of German New Guinea & Samoa. But I think that's just talk.

All the nations involved will be covered; British & Empire Troops (including of course the ANZACS, Sikhs & Ghurkas), The Ottoman Empire (Turks & Arabs), Germany (Asia Korp) and France (including Colonial Troops & The Foreign Legion.)

Although all the armies involved feature many different troop types, most of these were fairly standard across all 'Eastern' theatres.
However all the campaigns offer scope for some rather interesting specifics; Lawrence's Arabs, Von Lettow-Vorbeck's East African Germans, the Senussi in Egypt for example.

Next Set Of Releases....
...will feature:
Turkish NCOs,
ANZAC NCOs,
Turkish Bombers,
ANZAC Bombers.

This sounds interesting, but why starting ranges that are available from others? When I read 'Great War in the East' I thought of Russia & Romania, that would have been a big thing!

Hmm....... What no mention of the "German" troops on Pohnpei?!?!
Yup,I bet I'm one of the few people out there with pictures of the Carolinian guard of Georg Fritz from Saipan that served on Pohnpei. What is even better is that there is a picture of the old fellows (Chamorro and Carolinian) marching on Saipan in 1950 for UN Day....and you guessed it they are goose stepping!
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

Oh by the way, if they are crazy enough to produce German troops in New Guinea I'll buy them!

I've just received this day the Gripping Beast (GB Woodbine) ANZACs and Turk Command and they are wonderful figures.

I placed them next to my collection (Brigade Games/BH) and Drew's BH (Turks and ANZACs) and Copplestone figures (British and Turks) as well.

They fit perfectly well in size with all except for the Copplestone Britsh Lewis gunner which means anything that big will not suit, but folks have their preferences too.
The Copplestone Turks fit very well in with the GB and Brigade Games Turks.

Helen, could you be so kind to do a comparison pic with Brigade ANZACs?
Thank you.

Here are some photos I took. it was a bit windy, but I took two with my Brigade Games figures and one with Drew's BH Turk/ANZAC and Copplestone Turk/British figures. The last photo I must mention is that Drew place them on GW bases, hence they are slightly higher.

Many thanks. The pics show again that Copplestones are beautiful but much to large :(
It seems the Woodbine/GBs work best with Battle Honours? Though they lkook good next to the Brigades, too! Decisions... Top buy or not to buy?

If you decide to order let me know Sky. I'll piggy back and we can share the shipping costs. I am attempting to wait until OG15s has them here in the states, but I am a weak man.
