The paint seems to stick in place rather nicely, no peeling off at least by now. I too was kind of expecting that to happen and that's why I only braved to spraypaint that one piece at first.

I bought the spray from a store that sells car parts etc so that spray is meant originally to be used as car paint, maybe that explains why it stays on? One possibility would be to get a plastic spray primer, special spray meant as the undercoat for plastic surfaces before spraying some paint on.

Hmmm, I'll have to track down some Krylon spray paints. The auto paints I have don't stick to plastic  :-X

I just tried scratching it, no flaking at all.

The spray that I used is Motip Acrylic Lacquer so basically (I think) it's not a paint but coloured lack/hardcoat.

I'll have to try that brand, most of our supermarkets sell it. Thanks!

Well things have been pretty quiet on the sci-fi front for me... it doesn't help a bit that Mongoose Rogue Trooper KS seems to be more than stalled... don't know if it ever comes back to the world of living. Nevertheless I started once again to build some terrain, this time a largish factory/arsenal of some sorts. The plan is that it will situated in table corner, so it will open on two sides.

Here's two pics of planning stage.. expect a veeeery slow progress rate with this (just like with any of my projects :D ).

Can't remember the exact name for the kits, but were quite cheap back then. They are meant to be ~1/285 scale or something like that but work pretty well for the bigger scales as well. Small doors can become maintenance hatches etc. And each kit comes with extra bits and they can be used as well.

I hope that I can use this for gaming from cyberpunkish to sci-fi in the end. And plan is to make this abandoned so not in pristine condition.

Made you look, didn't I?  :P

So since my modern project is on hold for a bit (need to gather mojo for it anew) I began putting things together for this sleeping "beauty" of a project.

Here's first a pic to get you all inclined to the mood:

I will use Mongoose Publishing Rogue Trooper minis for this as it seems that they are managing to produce minis for their KS after all. I do not plan on making any big battles so it will be skirmish game at its best along the lines of good old Necromunda and such. Besides the new Rogue Trooper material there will be minis from other manufacturers as well, eg. some old GW items etc. Pics will follow at some point, most likely later than sooner in my case :)

First board is underway. It will include the factory space seen earlier in this thread with added railway and such. The factory will be partly underground so I need to build a hill in one end with a tunnel opening for the railway as well. And somekind of access building or such to the factory so it will be suitable for gaming too. This board will be a corner piece, quite obviously, maybe in the end I will hopefully either finish with four such boards giving me a gaming surface of 120cm x 120cm to start with.

Second board will hold some sort of grav-vehicle landing pad and I have hopes to have a motorway or such for two final boards so I can use the bigger tank-traps seen also earlier in this thread.

Anyhow, here's couple of pics of the build so far. Will continue today to give a basic shape to both hill and tunnel opening as well. There will be quite a deal of rubble, litter and abandoned equipment inside the factory space, that all will come later...

Thank you gentlemen, words of encouragement are needed as I know myself and my record of finishing projects  lol

I will go to FLGS after work today and check if they have something useful for sci-fi terrain. I do have lots of material amongst my bits boxes already but nevertheless... more is, well, more :)

Miniwise I think I am well covered, for starters anyways. Just need to start painting those besides terrain building...  ::)

Anyone know what's the situation nowadays regarding Inquisitormunda or whatchamacallit? Or any other small scale skirmish rules for sci-fi setting that are not too heavy and cumbersome yet entertaining enough?
