Test: posting pictures
« on: 24 February 2013, 07:46:53 PM »
Just seeing if I can actually post pics to the forum!  This is an old one of my Ethiopian-Italian game at Crisis 2011, but will hopefully have some more to show soon!

This is the left wing of my Azande army in a game of Death in the Dark Continent last week.

Hmm, seems to be working so far. :)

Does anyone know if the image width is fixed on the page?  The first pic is a compressed shot, the second is full size, but they're both displayed at the same width.  Any ideas?

Image width is restricted to 800 pixels. Just as a test, here is a pic 900 or so pixels wide. The forum has scaled it to 800.

Problem seems to be at your end if you think your second pic should be bigger. When viewed as a direct link it is still 240 × 180. Whatever is shrinking it, it isn't the LAF.

It's odd that you had that one at the ready to post as an example.   ;)

I bet it's the hats.   :)

I saw it a few months ago in the RNLI magazine. I have been waiting for an excuse to post it.  :)

I wonder why no one has made figures of those?  (rolls eyes)

Clearly my Azande are lacking hats and underwear quite as fetching as those in Plynkes' pic!

Thanks for the tips, I'll try again.  Might be a problem with Flickr.

That looks better...

This is a much better picture, and they look really great.  However, I have a piece of advice: I think that miniatures should almost always be photographed at eye level.  I know that the typical gamer takes bird's-eye views because that's how the game is usually perceived by the gamer.  However, the bird's-eye view doesn't show much.  I can't wait to see these clearly very well-painted miniatures when I can actually see them.    :)

Thanks!  As you can see, to have taken an eye-level shot, our intrepid photographer would clearly have had to have got his feet wet in the crocodile-infested river, and he wasn't being paid enough to do that! :)  Hopefully we'll be able to find a braver lensman for tonight's clash...

Looking good James.

PS - love the other photo. The guy with the pipe looks particularly pleased with himself
