Cheers Gentlemen! Would glitter be a fine enough material to work on something this small?

Probably not which is why I mention the powder of pearl. Have a pop in Hobby Craft if you have one nearby or a decent art shop and have a browse (tell them Liberace sent you  lol ).

cheers

Pardon a possibly stupid question of mine:
if glitter and powder of pearl is already discussed, why not use metallic paint from the start?

I once used a thin wash made from silver metallic to let an otherwise matt black armour glitter a bit but stay black

I love the metallic non metallic work you did on the armor. Last year I tried to paint some gold armor parts, without obtaining such a result.

Yes, this is what I would do. Thinned metallic paint will give you the shimmer you want.

Just don't tell them you are Jamie Redfern, they may wish to know if it's true that your benefactor regularly asked you to push his stool in.

Well......I have to apologise unreservedly!!! I did think you all had seriously lost the plot with the glitter thing!! I honestly thought I would have to redo the paint work after messing it up with the glitter!...but I have to say you were ALL right! So.....SORRY!

The glitter in Hobbycraft was too big and I couldn't find any powder of pearl! What I did get was a cheap glitter paint! The thing I get with this over using a wash of metallic paint is the small flakes of glitter are an iridescent colour, not just silver, but a range of metallics.

I'm afraid it doesn't show up that well in any pics I take, but it does look good in real life!! Magic special effects straight from a 60's/70's dodgy fantasy film!!

I've also tried to paint the broken shield as a Greek one...

Cheers for all your help guys!!

You are not the only one who thought they were being silly.
It certainly does seem to work.
