Blakes 7 is go! Finished my first round of painting.
« on: 26 March 2013, 12:47:14 AM »
Well, finally finished up the batch and can pack them away as work begins on terrain and the next Crooked Dice release for some convention games next year.

The figures were indeed a dream to paint and I honestly thought it would take ages to get all those Fed Sec Troopers done but they just fell in line and accepted the brush eagerly and were done in practically no time at all. Excellent minis and I'm just chomping at the bit for the next release for certain. Finally be able to do that Blake/Federation/Dalek war I've always wanted and have the people in Texas try to remember the show when it aired on PBS all those years ago.

Those look terrific! Well done.
I still need to order the Blake and Gan figures for my own project, and now they're showing the greens for the rest of the crew.

Very nice - the massed troopers look great. I am quite ignorant in such matters: what rules would go with Blake's 7 type scenarios?

I'm going with Crooked Dice's 7TV rules but I'd maybe use Astounding Tales! as an alternate or perhaps Golgo Island.

Thanks - I think I must do some research. :)

Those look great, lovely paint job.
I'm really looking forward to the rest of the crew that Crooked Dice have on the way.

What kind of terrain did you have in mind?
A small hatch set in to the ground of the BBC sand pit?

Always fancied having a go at the bridge of the Liberator but never had the figures to populate it until recently.

Nice stuff. I've been tempted by those troopers myself and they look great enmasse. Just a question (not a criticism) weren't all of the bright bits on the troopers green rather than red? :)

The helmet 'halo' was clear plastic that seemed to be tinted green. I based them with green paint but my usual ham fisted thick layered off-white and then pure white seems to have obscured it completely. The mask eye lenses looked to be either clear or that brown tint and I thought the figures looked a little too flat. I mean, the black on black on black on more black made them drab enough and I'm really rubbish painting pure black and white honestly. But, yeah, the eye lenses probably have too much 'glow' to them.

Terrain I'm doing is a 6'x4' prison ship using Worldworks cardstock reinforced with wood cause the cardstock stuff tends to go all kinds of wobbly on its own and the Texas heat really does a warping number on paper models. At least, that's the idea. I've got the base made and just need to start on the walls and floors. Idea is to have Davros held by the Federation and a member of Blake's crew on the opposite end to Davros. Blake and company teleport over while a Dalek force boards the Federation prison ship and chaos ensues.

Great stuff!  Really tempted to start a Blakes 7 game.  Hope crooked dice finish off the Liberator crew soon.

Nice figures :D

I've just read about the Blake's 7 reboot on the Starship Modeller forum, so it'll be interesting to see if they honour the aesthetic.

Not sure how I feel about this yet  :?
