After playing around with quite a few rules sets, I've given M&T a go.
The basic set up was: my newly painted GM New York Provincials, where going to clear a village of the French. There were 3 companies of Provincials, 2 flank companies going in skirmish order to clear the woods and village. And a large centre company going down the road in close formation.

The French meanwhile, commanded by my 7 year old daughter (who has French name, so it all fitted!) took up postions. 2 companies of militia took cover in the woods, while the civilans hid around their houses.

The French officer orders his men forward.

During the opening moves i moved the Provincials slowy forward, it was claer that only having one troop type is a real disadvantage. The French were able to keep up a fire on my men, when I could only reply every now and then!
I was starting to lose men as the canny French kept to the woods and village. It was then my daughter thought it was the right time to attack my Provincials out in the open and send them running, so the civilans came out from the village and a company of militia ran from the woods. They vollyed into the Americans, killing quite a few, but their morale held. My large centre company then gave a close order volley:

Dead French everywhere! the civilans took to their heels and the militia ran for the cover of the woods, but few made it.

with the introduction of the morale card, it was really game over for the French. In 2 more turns they had melted back into the woods.
I really enjoyed the rules, but will game with a more of a mixed force next time!
