ERIN MINIATURES FROM ALTERNATIVE ARMIES

Can anyone point me in the direction of some painted examples of Alternative Armies Erin miniatures?

I've seen the painted stuff on the AA website but I would like to see some other painted examples before I commit to the range.

Also,aside from the Erin rule book is there any particular recommended reading as regards Irish mythology?

Captain, if you havent bought the rules hang fire I have a set at home. The rules are very basic and a little off balance game wise. Some nice concepts in it.

I did have the Formorions, quite nice sculpts though the casting over pressed some of the shileds so they have a bit of a bendy look to them around the rim.

I sold all mine off. a good few years ago. A campaign ran at our club for a while.

Slaine graphic novels from 2000AD are some good inspiration for the game

Here's a picture of a couple of painted Erin figs.  The picture is on the low quality side, the miniatures actually paint up very well.

Celtic Age Roleplaying the Myths, Heroes and Monsters of the Celts
by Avalanche Press contains a lot of cultural and historic information on the Irish Celts.

The Legends & Lands of Ireland by Richard Marsh is an excellent overview of the various mythic cycles and legends and it has many pictures of the land and legendary sites.

Wars of the Irish Kings can't remember the author, but it has a nice segment on the early mythic cycles complete with written accounts of the legends.  The book goes on to historic times and the struggles of the Irish versus the Vikings, Normans and English.

There is at least one other book that I have found very helpful, but I'll have to paw around to find the title.

Wars of the Irish Kings  is written by David W. Mccullough.

The other book which I have found to be a great referrence is, Celtic Myth and Legend Poetry and Romance by Charles Squire.

Hope you have fun with Erin if you decide to get into it.
