still, even with without the lingual misunderstandings, elk (Cervus canadensis) is the largest species of deer in the world, although moose/elk (alces alces) is even larger
and they have totally different body shapes and head/antler proportions, not to talk about the antlers themselves than reindeer/caribou (rangifer tarandus).

I think prehistoric deer might substitute for canadian elk, but probably not megaloceros
