I'm not sure how you guys managed to latch on to the whole Moose thing, it wasn't even mentioned in the first post! Elk (and Caribou) are part of the deer family. A 1/48th scale deer is probably large enough to masquerade as an Elk.

Heisler, what we call a moose here in the US is called an elk in Europe, an issue on an international board like this.

still, even with without the lingual misunderstandings, elk (Cervus canadensis) is the largest species of deer in the world, although moose/elk (alces alces) is even larger
and they have totally different body shapes and head/antler proportions, not to talk about the antlers themselves than reindeer/caribou (rangifer tarandus).

it's like substituting horses with donkeys visually, even if one uses different scales

I think prehistoric deer might substitute for canadian elk, but probably not megaloceros
