Looks like  a lot of classic lead preslotta Citadel miniatures.

oooh ... tough decision! Both entries very cool!

ahm ... I like to know, where especially this dwarf is from!? Is it from a pirate-box? I somehow seem to remember such a "multi-race" pirate box ... maybe it was Citadel ... or maybe Reaper? ... dunno

Wow this is a rough choice....the gladiators are fantastic and the pirates ooze character.

Cheers,

Both great entries, difficult decision here.

@ Admiral - where is the rapier armed swashbuckler from?

Tough choice but I really like the gladiators. The cold colours on the basing and the warm flesh tones look great together!

The Pirates are indeed very old Citadel pre-slotta miniatures from around October 1984. Citadel released a 10-miniatures-set of pirates, but labelled them under the "C04 Thieves" range. They never appeared again in the later "Thieves" ranges, maybe because some of them were "personalized" ... The outer right miniature with the crutch, well, that's Steve Jackson who had a leg broken at the time ... :D

You can have a look here to see all 10 http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Thieves_-_C04_%28solid_base%29

I have them all, but two are unpainted.

Love both entries, different styles of painting, but both are very good.

I like the colors used on the gladiators - different from the norm.

I love the tall dark skinned pirate in the back-row - one of my favorite minis. We have TWO!!

I like the emaciated guy next to him...he really pops, and is quite creepy looking!

A merry band with lively colours versus some hardened, armed and armoured killers, tough choice. Great idea to give each gladiator his own distinctive colour, it really sets them apart!

Thanks Raz,

I wanted them to be themed like gaming pieces...the blue guy, the red guy and so on. Looks less 'historical' for sure...but let us be honest here; around my gaming table they will be fighting skeletons, slimy blobs, killer dinosaurs...possibly robots.  8)
