(BOX) 30 Days of Night of the Living Dead: A PAPPIS challenge (WIP)

Using solely Swedish names for a Finnish team could be considered either offensive or a political statement.

Using Swedish place names, other proper nouns and common nouns would be mainly odd (and possibly offensive).
 

Sorry Dolmot, not trying to be rude/racist. I suggested it because the build is for the IKEA PAPPIS challenge. But you make a point if it's a serious Finnish village setting.

Well if the village is located on the western or south-western coast, then all Swedish names would  be very spot on. No harm done with suggested Swedish names, I presume.

I haven't really thought about where the village is, but given the fact that it is all but cut off by the severe weather, I am thinking it might be in the Lapland region. How does that sound?

Now LPL is out of the way I intend to knuckle down and get some more done. Here's a few snaps of my next build- the first of my Finnish houses. It just needs painting then snow/icing. I haven't applied the tiles to the whole of the roof as its going to be covered in a layer of snow flock, so it seemed a bit redundant.

I am thinking of painting it a sort of pea green.





And the interior is rather basic, but won't need painting.

I like the different textures that you including: Brick, wood and shingles, and of course the snow to come.
It all adds up to a very effective piece of scenery.

You'd probably have to stick with some conversions of normal civilians with brightly, multicoloured cap.
And some reindeers, Samis won't leave their homes without a herd or two.

By the way, have you thought about getting snowmobiles? Or if the village is located near some slalom center, even a snow cat? The latter would be quite perfect against the zombie hordes

Funny you should say that. I have got this one- it just needs some snow flock. I am not sure I am going to add it into the PAPPIS challenge as it is quite big, and I am not sure if there will be room in the PAPPIS box. It's not a real world one, as it comes form a SciFi range, but in the absence of anything better it will do.

My idea was that the survivors own vehicle has become stuck in the snow, and they must make it to the ATV to get out of the village. Unfortunately, its at the other end of the village, with lots of the living dead between them and their escape route.

I have also ordered a couple of snow mobiles form Ainsty Castings too, but they haven't arrived yet.

I feel the green is too dark, given the photos I have seen. I was hoping it would turn out a pea green, but its much darker than that. The next one will be much brighter.
