This weekends battle...

This morning’s battle went very well; the forces for the battle were two American rifle teams, two heavy machine guns, a sniper, and Captain America. The Axis’s force randomly generated their forces at the beginning of every turn. They started with 1 rifle team, 1 heavy machine gun team, and a tank. This time I used The rules Warhammer Panzer by Phil Yates, with some of my own rules for Captain America. (Sorry Brian!) We spent two turns moving up with no conflict, by that time I had three tanks on the road and two infantry squads moving through the rubble. Jarrett’s American airborne then opened up on the infantry scaring the hell out of them, but not killing them. I fired all of my tanks into the building, and missed three times! Two shells even bounced off the building and hit one of my tanks, destroying the main gun. Jarrett used sticky bombs to destroy one of the tanks, and I opened up with my machine and killed 3 of his troopers. Most of the battle, Jarrett used sticky bombs to stun and destroy my tanks, the troops exchanged gun fire with most of the shots going wide. I moved the tanks up to maximum speed, racing to the bridge, but sticky bombs took out another of my tanks. Captain America also chucked some sticky bombs and stunned my last tank. By the end of the finale turn, the Americans had stopped the advance of the axis, and were relived by American forces.
The Captain really did nothing to improve the American's defense, but at one point he did take out a squad of rifle men in close combat.
The second battle my son ran the Axis forces, and I also stopped his advance.

Those were purchased from Walmart in the US for about $6.00 USD each.

There's a guy selling them on e-bay for between £8-10 plus £6.50 postage.i think he's doing rather well at that mark up

These tanks are now being sold at Toys-R-Us. Price has gone up to $6.99, but you still can't beat that for 1/48th scale diecast. Latest models are a Marder III and Pz 38(t).

Nice looking game slobberblood. I was looking at this on your blog only last night.

I have been thinking of using the Warzone plastics for VSF and/or Weird WW2, so here are some questions that you guys might be able to help me with:

1 - Can someone post a pictire of how the plastics scale in with other mainstream manufacturers?  I would also be interested in seeing painted examples of the plastics before I send off for 1 or 2 bags of 80 figures to add to my lead and plastic mountain.

2 - Has anyone tried using the separate heads from Westwind's WW2 and SOTR ranges with the Warzone plastics? Since the Imperials have guns with drum magazines I was thinking that if I fitted new heads they might make nice 1949 soviets. Alternatively, WW2 British para heads might look cool.

Thanks for the scale comparison. The pics on the prince August site look to be touched-up, so I am still unsure about the Imperials. However, other than the gatling style HMGs, I really like the Bauhaus look soe will be buying some soon (HMG figs I can convert to something else).

Yeah, they have been worked on a bit.  The gatling style HMG is smooth and blank on both types.

Things get even better - I fancy giving them maxim-sytle MGs for a real pulpy look, so with smooth gun barrels they might be ecen easier to convert.

Dammit - thats another set of figures to buy! At lese I can use my existing ruined city buildings to fight over, so i don't have to buy terrain for a new project!
