Hello all! I haven't been able to update the website for a bit, but we've been playing and photographing and wanted to share.

Teshub built up a temple complex inside a mountain during the holiday break.

He asked our sons to talk him through what they thought the areas could be.

Teshub ran three different adventures in the temple.

The first was on New Year's Eve (into New Years Day, thus the slightly glassy-eyed girls) with the our daughter and the Clan Modrak crew.

The second adventure on New Year's Day starred Kvig's son and our son as Gautrians looking to rescue their parents and avenge their parents, respectively.

They played for a solid 3 hours!

Teshub had already asked them what type of characters they wanted to play and made up the character sheets ahead of time. As soon as Kvig dropped off his boy they started the game.

The boys were just finished looting when Kvig arrived to take home his son.

Last but not least, a few of us adults got to play the next night.

We three played zealous Vangen orcs on an assassination mission.

Teshub told me it was to be a challenging adventure for his players, and we were up for the task.

It was an amazing three days of gaming, and I felt lucky to be there for all of it! Game on!

Wonderful stuff Jevenkah!  I was just thinking a week or so ago how long it's been since your last post!

Thanks! Yes, it's been far too long. We're still here and playing and painting!

We play with Mongoose's Conan ruleset, from the Open Game License era of D & D (3.5 edition maybe?). It's particularly vicious and quick in combat, I feel. We combine that with Fantasy Warriors that has been converted to a d10 system for mass combat of npcs/followers. We roll with 2 rounds of PC combat for each round of mass combat. For example:

Alanna, the wolf-clad warrior in the standing stones on the right is a PC. She's matched up against a nasty urog. Both will roll 2 rounds of d20 combat as per usual D & D 3.whatever edition. Meav in the red dress is a PC spellcaster, so she'll take her 2 turns as well against the orc mage up on the ledge. Maria is on the left, and can't reach any orcs this turn. It looks like 6 clansmen are in (roughly) base-to-base contact with the 2 orcs. Assuming they are all single-worth units, the girls would simply roll 6 d10 to Teshub's 2 d10. There's a hit throw, then a kill throw in Fantasy Warriors (that's the abbreviated version we use in the RPG, in a full-scale wargame there are a few other rules that are involved) remove casualties if need be, and bam! round over and back to the PCs.

It keeps the game flowing well and allows focus on the story aspect of the adventure while still swinging swords and slinging spells.

Thanks everybody, for the warming welcome back! It was some great family time, and fun holiday time with friends. My husband had a blast being a 12-yr-old again for 3 hours.

Only 3 years ago, they didn't like using the casualty markers. My, how they've grown!

"Mom, there's a goat right there between the cells! Next to the torch! How flammable are goats?"

The conversations that go on around here are quite intriguing sometimes...
