Thanks all!

When is your group getting together to play on this table?
The Official "official" First Battle will be a crossover RPG/Fantasy Warriors night for Saga of the Gautrian Kings #40, Sat the 15th. But we've used it in #39 Wynston's Gambit, and I've now battled two of our other players  (individually) on it. We have spent so much time playing & prepping, the blogging hasn't quite caught up. :) We want a good grasp of the rules before we play it for real.

Why? Are you coming to the east coast soon? We're conveniently located near 2 major airports. :)

It certainly looks a good game!

I'm having a lot of fun, and while I enjoyed strategy games when I was younger, wargaming was just never something I got into. This is a great little rule set that I think can engage the mind on enough levels without being overwhelming with rules or numbers.

Keep checking the blog for updates, though I generally post there a few minutes before I share some pix here.

We had company here for some Fantasy Warriors last Saturday night.

My husband Teshub had parceled out the armies ahead of time:

(L to R: Kildarians (myself), Gautrians (our Jarl), Grunevaldians (our guest), Vangens (Teshub))

Tabling the armies

This battle was a helpful one to see how the terrain worked in use.

It seemed an evenly matched battle. Who would come out on top? Come check out the blog for more pictures of the experience: http://swordandsorceryrpg.com/fantasy-warriors/grunevaldians-vs-kildarians-in-fantasy-warriors/

Before checking out the report, I spotted the only one smiling in the last photo thus gaining some insight into the Final Outcome...CONGRATULATIONS, Jev.

I reaæy love your setups. They have a fantastic old school charm, that just captures the imagination and then a such a detailed fantasy world adds the  cherry to the top.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! We've been having loads of fun playing and moving all of these little figures.

We've had the opportunity to play a few Fantasy Warriors battles now. The first battle we fought last Saturday night was our Jarl Kvig and his Gautrians against myself as the Kildarians.

My Kildarian army is the far left, and his Gautrians are next to mine.

Come see how the battle played out, or just come to see more pictures.  :)

We had friends come by during the week and were able to play more Fantasy Warriors! For the first time, we had 2 orc armies battle it out. A high-school D & D buddy played as Valden the Ruthless commanding his Vangen orcs against our other long-time player as Graf Gorik leading the League of Nil-ith Horn orcs.

The League of Nil-ith Horn orcs deploy on the hill while the Vangens storm across the field.

The League orcs stubbornly hold the hill as the Vangens approach.

Will the high ground prevail? Or will Valden destroy everything in his path?

HOORAY FOR THE GREEN GUYS!...that was a pretty safe exclamation. As a Goblin Guy, it's always fine watching the Big Greens killing each other off.

You get a lot of action out of some modest numbers...a FINE recommendation for the rules & the gamers. Thanks for the post...another enjoyable read & stare session.

Hi all! Teshub and I have been hosting many Fantasy Warriors battles since filling out our armies and building our table and terrain.

In one of our recent battles, I got to fight a friend who had DM'd us when I was in high school.

I played as the human Gautrian army while he commanded the Vangen orcs.

It was a very quick moving combat.

Will Valden the Ruthless destroy the men of Gautria? Come to the site and find out:

Yet another EXCELLENT Battle Report! Beyond the visual treat, the photos do tend to bring back memories of Battles long forgotten that glow with a light of their own in remembrance...Old Guys are subject to flowery moments. Keep us updated on the action.

A quick break from battle reports! I was asked to post my husband's d10 conversion of the Fantasy Warriors ruleset. I kept the .doc in that format so anyone could change bits they wanted to.

Teshub and I hosted a few game nights during our vacation week. One of our young players got to fight her first Fantasy Warriors battle with our generation. She played with her father as a League of Nil-ith Horn Orc relief force ordered to the Vangen capital of Kednvald. They were attacked en route by a rebellious Great Northern Hertog urog and myself, his unaffiliated urog ally. Teshub was the GM.

The Great Northern Hertog urog warlord had his units hidden in the woods ahead of the League of Nil-ith Horn column. A unit of elite urog valdgrafs with shields and heavy armor fought for the Hertog, along with another urog hero and his unit of orc reavers with 2-handed weapons and medium armor. I commanded an urog warlord with a unit of veteran reavers who bore shields and wore heavy armor, and an urog heroine and her unit of elite orc ambushers.

My warlord and reavers climbed the ridge for a more threatening position of the road. The elite orc ambushers displayed uncanny speed as they and the heroine attacked the unit of smerdi at the rear. There was a great clash, but few casualties. The Hertog brought his unit of elite heavy infantry around the woods and bogs, while he attacked the League of Nil-ith Horn medium unit in the road with his reavers.  Father answered the reavers in the road with his veteran shield unit, and attacked my reavers on the ridge with his smerdi infantry. Daughter sent her elite pike unit up the road at the Hertog and his elite heavy infantry.

Daughter found her elite unit wiped out quickly, save for the bannerman. When he fell, the Hertog and his valdgrafs continued down the road towards Father’s unit. Father’s smerdi proved more efficient killers as they eliminated my reavers on the ridge, then rushed down the hill to support his hand and shield unit.

But Daughter’s smerdi were worn down by the savage ambushers and the Great Northern orcs converged on the remaining League of Nil-ith Horn forces.

And none of that relief force reached Kednvald. But we all had a blast!
