FUBAR AAR - Enfilade 2013 (pic heavy)
« on: June 04, 2013, 03:04:39 AM »
So, late last month I went to Enfilade (a historical gaming convention here in the northwest of the USA) and I ran a small FUBAR game.  The theme for this year was 'Silver Screen', so I ran the battle of Bjork's Drift, with my stalwart Norwegians facing off against a larger force of native Martians.

I didn't take nearly as many photos as I should have - I was busy herding cats - but it did not go nearly so well for the Norsk.

When the natives hit the wall, they overwhelmed the defenders, who had, I must say, the worst activation roll luck I had ever seen.  I think they managed less than 50% success on a roll that was 3 or better most times.

I don't remember all the details, but the pictures are pretty.  It was 6 units of 15 Martians, 2 Trolls, a Jotnar, a unit of Bantha Cannon, and a Shaman with 2 bodyguards against 3 units of 10 Norwegians, 3 Ornithopters, 1 mountain gun, a Steam Clank with Mechanic, and a small Aeronef.

Very nice!  Which iteration of the FUBAR rules did you use, and what were the stats?

A modification of your VSF rules, heavily modified to make it 'con-friendly' for this game.  They were down to one page when I was done, and I just cut out lots of things that slow down games with more than 2 people in them - I had 5 in this game (3 martian and 2 norsk). I'll get my stat cards posted here when I get home - I don't have time before work right now.

YEah, well, as an old time wargamer who has tried one hell of a lot of systems, I really like what was done with FUBAR.  I just wish the name was a little different.  Too many military types I play with.  Anyway, here are the stat cards I used...

Great cards. Are you able/willing to post a blank master of them?

I am pretty sure these were made with a browser based application that allows you to design Magic the gathering game cards. A pretty smart hack of it I must say.  :)

Well, it isn't browser based - I don't think.  You can find it at magicsourceeditor.net - free download.  Worked great.

I find that a photo of the actual mini with the stats stops most of the "well, which figure is this?" right off the bat.

Great looking table - would love to have a game with you.  Excellent idea with the cards too, must speed up gameplay.
