His Britannic Majesty’s Army of Observation in Germany
« on: 19 July 2013, 02:41:18 PM »
...or something like that, anyway.

So I've taken as my next project the Seven Years War in Western Germany, in 15mm. Just finished off the foundations of the Allied army, Hanoverians and Hessians, and as it's nice at sunny here at the moment I've attempted a few photos outside.

Three battalions of Hanoverian foot, two of Hessians (in dark blue), two Hanoverian cavalry squadrons and four guns, plus command bases and a converged battalion of Hanoverian grenadiers.

220 figures...now on to the French!
I told you so. You damned fools.

First Frenchmen - rest of the battalion to follow once I've based them.

Great collection mate!
I almost started the SYW thingy a couple of years ago. Bought loads of AB's preussians, all the sourcebooks from Caliver books, even more expensive source books from ebay. Cleaned, primed. And the put away :(

Thanks guys. It's not so much perseverance as having a long empty summer at my disposal...  ::)

Only 190 French left to do:

Impressed with how quickly you're getting through them. Currently painting 15mm Naps and I can only do about one battalion every 6 months! The scale and webbing does my head in. Hats off to you, keep the pictures coming!

First French infantry brigade finished. 15mm SYW looks cool.

Still going! Couple of French artillery officers (I think I've got the uniforms right... though the waistcoats are supposed to be red, I fear)

Fruition! After finishing a German battalion in French service and a unit of cavalry I finally got a chance to try them out with a quick game of black powder (hence odd markers on table). Pretty pleased with the result!  :)
