EXCELLENT START! The thing that I most admire about your miniatures is the WONDERFUL expressive personalities they all possess. How you will achieve this with a Kraken will be a process worth following closely. Egro, keep up the FINE WORK!

Thanks again for the enthusiasm, guys! :)

Dr Zombie: Åcon was the reason I started this thing. I was just not able to finish it in time for this year. Should I not be able to attend next year, I will make sure that the other Dr. has the beast at his disposal to harrass you lot! :D

AndyM, yup, that thing is unbelievable. They have a documentary on how they did it on Massive Voodoo. Stunning. The ship has been built totally from scratch... :o

DeafNala, thanks for the nice words! I can only return the compliment as it always is over-the top stuff with lots of character like yours that keeps one inspired!

Ah, and those two Scandinavians in the back, stop jabbering! ;)

Meanwhile I adjusted the pose of the tentacles a bit in order to make it more plausible. I have temporarily stuck the first resin-tentacle to the tile to show you guys where this is going:

Man, imagine that there will be eight of them in different poses!
Sadly, I forgot to place my standard scale-reference miniature next to it so far, but in the next photos I won't.

Before I go to bed, I will start adding some texture to the head...
More to follow soon.

Yes, I'm a bit disappointed, too. Now that he collected all 8 tentacles yesterday in the evening, I had expected to see them all bent in wriggling shapes by now ;)

Folks, as soon as Zafarelli gave me seven straight tentacles on Friday night, my thoughts really went astray.

When I saw this,

I immediately thought of this:

 ;D

I spent the evening playing around with the sculpt of the head, refining it here and there and adding more skin texture still. Nothing to show as I am using up my skin-coloured Sculpey with this project. As this stuff is a bit transparent, it photographs like hell. Well, the amount I have will be used up when I finished this and after that, it's the brilliant grey stuff again. The next sculpts will photograph better, promised!  :)

On saturday, I finally bent the tentacles in
wriggling shapes
and cut them to the desired lengths:

There are some leftovers I somehow do not want to throw away but have no use for whatsoever. If you drop me a PM, I'll send them to you just for fun:

I spent Saturday night finishing the sculpt and finally baked it this afternoon. Here are some pictures, hope you like them:

In a game, the tentacles would have to be stuck to the gaming surface with blue tack or something similar. Each tentacle would then be used as a single miniature with individual stat as Dr. The Viking thought out a while ago. Thing is, I don't even know if I would use this one in a game! lol

Next will be some rather boring steps of casting and stuff. I will come back as soon as there is something that can be shown again.
Hope you liked this, stay tuned for more...!

 :)

Surely basing the tentacles and the head separately would be less fiddly for a game than Blu tac? I'm sure you could make some really cool, choppy waves as if they're bursting out of the water! Treat the different parts as characters of a 'squid' crew. Each with its own hits and stuff!

Have you thought about hollowing out the skull to get some very weak LED in behind the Eyes to make them glow? Oh, and jolly najs work. Unbelivably well sculpted.
