The Marie Anne Sets Sail
« on: July 25, 2013, 06:47:57 PM »
The Marie Anne is about to set sail at the behest of the nefarious Ankh su Namun to seek a mysterious treasure.

But before we delve more deeply into this risky expedition, credit must go to Amalric for inspiring me to copy his boat The Barracuda. See http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=54193.0

I made a very similar boat and added a few ship’s fittings. Thanks, Amalric!

Ankh su Namun is seeking to reincarnate her lover, Dorstep, from the dead. Dorstep was executed by the then Pharaoh, Ramitin III in the 2nd century B.C. According to the Book of the Dead, Ankh needs several artefacts to perform the ritual resurrection of her lover. One, The Eye of the Buddha was briefly in her possession (see http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49477.0 and http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49484.0 for parts 1 and 2 of my Pulp Alley Campaign The Eye of the Buddha) but it was taken from her supposedly dead body by The League of Quite Ordinary Archaeologists who are travelling back from British Honduras with the intent of presenting it to the Bembridge Scholars at their annual dinner hosted by Lord Emsworth at his ancestral home, Blandings Castle (another chapter in the campaign).

Meanwhile, as Ankh schemes to recover the Eye, she has instructed her second-in-command the Gräfin Marie Anne von Toptotty to follow up the rumour that the Voynich Manuscript went down in the shipwreck of the American schooner, the Blanche King.

The Blanche King was an American Schooner built in 1887. She was 192 feet long and 42 feet wide. On 2nd December 1920, while sailing from Norfolk towards Bermuda under the command of Captain Pattison, the ship hit the coral reefs south west of Bermuda. She sank and is now lying 35 metres under the waters of the Atlantic.

Gräfin Marie Anne von Toptotty has taken Kapitein Aard B’Astaard, hired a boat in Hamilton, Bermuda and recruited some local toughs to do the diving for the wreck of the Blanche King.
The scenery is not ready for the next game yet but I’d thought I’d show you some photos of the boat I’ve just finished and also  Gräfin Marie Anne von Toptotty’s league for The Eye of the Buddha, Part 3 (coming to a cinema near you soon)!

Kapitein Aard B’Astaard

.....and crew

Gräfin Marie Anne von Toptotty

...all aboard!

Cheeky!

Very nice.
Gräfin von Toptotty seems to have the crew eating out of the palm of her hand.

Went to the eye of the Buddha, and  lol and  lol ed. Noticed that Otto failed to pass this peril (rolling double one!) and was bitten by the snake, more commonly known as the Hognose Viper.

Double one in some circles is known as 'Snake's eyes.'

Nice boat too. But having a woman like that aboard is sure to result in bad luck. I hope the boat doesn't end up being cupsized.  Aye Cap'in.

WOW, the Maria Anne is incredible!
You did an outstanding job on her, the fittings are spot on, and she looks like she's ready to be boarded.
I can't wait to see her in a game.

Thanks for all the kind comments everybody. I've got the Scuba Divers from Crooked Dice to paint next. These will form part of an opposing league, not sure of the details yet. I may team them up with the Yacht Club from Bergil. I've ordered a set, see:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=54670.0

I will post some photos when more progress has been made, thanks again.
