(Army Painter) A Journey into Victorian Sci-Fi
« on: July 30, 2013, 09:31:05 PM »
I've finally been able to organize my VSF miniatures enough to start working on them and what better way to break my painters block then join in on this lovely concept of the Army Painters.

I've been thinking of starting some form of VSF project for quite some while (well since I joined here and saw all the great projects members have done) and a friend traded me a big lot of British and Zulus and I thought, what the heck this is perfect! After building and converting them for a couple of months and added in a French faction as well I'm ready to start it. I'm going to start working on some of the British units and then toss in some French and native units as well as I get them prepped and primed.

The miniatures I'll use comes from a range of manufacturers. The British is mainly WGF, Warlord and Foundry mixed with some GW, some bits from Victoria Lamb and some lovely figures from Hinterland. The French is mainly Victrix and Perry and the Natives are mostly WGF and GW (lovely Kroots) plus some other things I probably forgot^^ and there will be no historical accuracy for uniforms etc.

This is the what I have prepped and primed this far and more will get primed tomorrow:

Close in on some Hinterland figures and some モwerewolfヤ miniatures that I can't recall the manufacturer (could it be Rackham?):

Close in on some British, from Foundry I think and a Hinterland robot:

Cool looking army. Some of the British look like Empress metal figures Warlord Games includes with their plastics - at least they match the ones I have.

Thank you for the encouraging comments guys and thank you for helping identify the miniatures! I've been busy priming more figures today.

Tbh they don't look very good :D so I decided to toss them back to the pile they came from and ordered a bunch of Renegade WW1 French to use instead, so hopefully they will look better :D I also got some mounted French Foreign Legion and Austrians from North Star that had some great bargains right now.

I have a few Renegade spares if You need

what Mounted Foreign Legion from North Star would these be? You mean Artizan?
I also have some Mounted Chasseurs from Renegade if You need

IMHO the best belle epoque French are the MOD Artizan range - the FFL with uncovered Kepis are the same as any metropolitan units
have a look at the first unit in my Army painters thread
Also from the same range the ones with colonial helmets and uniform as troupes de marine, in white or blue uniform

Good start. And although VSF tingles my fantasy as much as contracting a VD, I still look forward to what you'll achieve :)

I didn't manage to get as much as I hoped for done but I have 10 figure finished besides basing that will be done as one big batch later on when I've actually managed to decide what setting/basing to use for them.
