Help! I am lost :-(.
« on: August 19, 2013, 07:27:23 PM »
Well no, not really. But i am looking for a map. No not from Treasure Island but from Middle - Earth. A couple of weeks back i took up to read the Lord of th rings books again (after two abortive tries) and would like to have a good, detailed map to accompany this fantastic read. This time i cannot put it aside. Does anyone know of a good one. Preferable a paper one but a good digital could also work. All pointers and advice is greatly appreciated.

Gothic Project: leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=55943.0 - although on pause atm as too much RL stuff getting in the way.

Iron Crown Enterprises had a line of official LotR roleplaying books and supplements in the 80s and 90s, among them many books which had b&w maps. I'd be surprised if the various fanpages and LotR wikis out there didn't have some of those online. Also, there's a book called Atlas of Middle-Earth tha came out in the 70s or 80s I think which also had very detailed maps of all the important and unimportant places of the story.

There are still some maps available from the movie release some years back. Try poster sales, they should have some Middle-Earth maps.

EDIT: I just tried a amazon search I guess you will also get some maps at bookstores

More Maps, in more detail, on more pages than you will ever want.

The Atlas of Middle Earth Revised Edition by Karen Wynn Fonstad (which I know by professional reputation from my Days as a Cartographer.

The Hobbitt covers pages 97 thru 112.  LOTR from pages 117 through 174.  There are about 188 pages of maps...

Gracias,

Glenn

Thanks for a the help guys 'n gals. I have searched the net and the only real useable are on The encyclpedia of Arda. Unfortunately these are all very small maps and some are not very detailed. The atlas seems to be the preferred option for my purposes.

Thanks BT. These might be of some use when printed in large format.

I have the KWF book to. It is very helpful but I find it somewhat lacking when it comes to the illustrations.
