A really nice model, and I like the versatility you've given it through use of magnets.  :-* If storage space is limited, like mine, that virtue will allow many more configurations for only a small amount of extra space.

Thanks for all the positive feedback.
Still working on the trading post interior, docks, and boats but no pics except for:

The uboat after applying wood putty and sanding. Just working out the templates still.

Looking to source an MG08/15 machine gun for the deck gun but will probably just scratchbuild one as I only need one.

Cheers all.

It's looking great. Almost makes me regret I payed good money for that Brigade Games model:

Not a bad model though and you can get all sorts of armament for it.

That is a great U-Boat.
One of those is on my, "I really want to build one of those!" list...  :D

As for the 08/15, look at ole Mr Murch's http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/110

Hammers. Those are great looking subs and thanks for the pointer to Brigade. Didn't realize the type VII would be so big not having planned that far. Guess I'll be making it in three parts too.

Amalric, I've been on the Pulp Figures site many times but don't ever recall seeing those guns before. Always a nice surprise to be found there. Thanks.

Braz,  I bought the weapons pack from Pulp and don't really need the 08/15.  PM me if you are interested in buying just that gun ( I have two).  John

I have not painted it yet, it is still in the box. The pic is from the Brigade site.

I would have noplace to put it if it did not break down in components. I bought a range of guns for it to twin, and single 20mm AA, 88mm tripple AAA, raft, sailors...

@ John Thanks for the offer but whipped this up Wednesday night just before I saw your post. Still needs work on the mount and will probably add a canister magazine.

Might still take you up on the offer though.

@Hammers Realized it was the website photo as not up to your usual painting greatness ;)

Flittering between too many things.

Instead worked on the steam launch instead. Here is the base made from hardboard. The planks will be scribed it with a nail later on. The two sides were cut from thin plywood salvaged from a box of clementines and soaked 30 minutes in water to make them more flexible.

The wet plywood is gently bent and clamped in place to dry. See my lovely improvised clamping jig. The same jig setup will be used to glue the pieces using wood glue once the pieces are dry.

Here is the basic mockup, dry fitting the pieces. Only the side pieces are glued at this point.

Back to the workbench.

Nice progress on your scratchbuild.  On second thought I should keep my 08/15s as I have a Fokker Triplane planned somewhere down the line....
