Hello folks, I am a new member but long time guest. I hope that I am not breaking any social conventions in my first post.

A few months back I got back into painting miniatures after a break of many years. I did this in part to get away from my computer gaming but also to share the hobby with my wife. My wife and I have been working on our own vision of Middle Earth using a lot of different inspirations.

Whilst not my first work done, this conversion is what inspired me to create a blog and gave the blog a name. More photos on the blog itself of course, but here you see some spare GW goblins I had no use for...

Feedback is a gift, so if anyone has any advice, suggestions or recommendations please do not be shy. I have also started a blog to document our projects.

... and here you can see the end result. I was inspired to do this by another artist. After I finished I found two others doing similar projects so I am hardly alone but we each took slightly different paths.

Welcome a-board Rick.  :)

Those conversions are brilliant, I would never have thought of sticking a beard on a goblin and calling it a gnome!

Thanks for the welcome. It would never have crossed my mind either if I had not seen a fellow on a Kings of War discussion group show off his idea. We had a little chat and in the end inspired each other.

Another artist who came up with idea is the guy behind Hagglethorn Hollow, but I did not see his designs until after I did mine. He went a slightly different way....

Their magnificent noses make for some truly handsome Dwarves. OUTSTANDING CONVERSIONS!

Cool idea.

Basically what my wife and I want to do is create a giant living gameworld based on Tolkien but with a cautious budget. We took the leap of backing Hagglethorn Hollow so our budget is rather tight. Our rules will at this point be based on GW Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game but we will be using a lot of proxy minis... in large part reliant on what I find inexpensive on eBay.

We have been doing this awhile so I will over time put some of my archived photos up. I am keen to hear feedback, suggestions and advice given my limited experience.

Here you can see some things I just finished plus a closer look at the Gno... er I mean Blue Mountain Dwarves.

Denethor looks more like Vigo from Ghostbusters in my opinion.

Welcome. And as others have said - great conversions and painting.

Whilst I got quite a bit worked on today, nothing quite finished. But here are some from my archives.

The pairs are couples, done as gifts.

The Winter holiday ones are also gifts.

The ship was a joint project between my wife and me.

The dwarf with the cool hat is me on a day when I feel more Dwarvish than Gnomish.

Thanks! It is great fun crafting things in the spirit as holiday gifts.

Next up we have a couple of figures I went back and did some reworking on, specifically the eyes.

A wight and barrow from Warploque and an old GW banshee that will make a fine wight in Arda.
