I wanted some 60x40mm bases, preferably plastic, for HOTT and the like, but the usual shops didn't have much in the way of those. So I've been practising cutting a bit of 1.5mm plasticard (to match the renedra bases I have; I'm almost as obsessive about base height as base area.
) with varying results.
One of the best methods seems to be using a plastic scriber to score the surface, then snap. Still leaves a bit of roughness, though, and it's not so handy if you want to snap off a thin strip. Things tend to buckle and tear in that case.
Does anyone have any tips to share? I was wondering if sticking the stuff in the freezer for a while would give a cleaner snap?
Another option would be to shoot an email off to Fenris Games to see if Ian would run a frickin' laser round a sheet or two. Anyone here had some custom laser cutting done? What's that like? What kind of price compared to the normally-available sizes and shapes? Was there any kind of minimum order?
