« on: 01 September 2013, 12:35:57 PM »
hi chaps,

finished my gaming mat today.didn't turn out the way I expected but actually I love the overall look (I wanted it to be somewhat greener) this quite a natural look. you could use it for almost any season except I guess for spring

That's a bit of alright. :) Looks very natural!

How much did that piece set you back, and what did you do with it?

Presumably spray-painted or drybrushed? Where did you get such a mongo piece of fur? It. Looks great! Would be prefect for games on the steppes.

thanks guys. it cost me about 30 euro's for 2meters by 1.55 so that is quite a large piece. the color is advertised as Caramel. in hindsights, I should have taken the light brown one because this was actually a bit too light for my taste.

I sprayed it a couple of times with a simple garden spray. just mix some acryl green paint with loeads of water and give the whole thing a couple of sprays (not to thick) I then shaved of some more of the hairs which opened up some lighters spots again and lastly gave it a good spray of thinned brown paint.

Got the fur from: http://www.stoffen-online.nl/Stoffen_00288/Stoffen_00289/Pluche-Teddykort-langhaar_P01162.aspx

It's a Dutch online store so I'm not sure if they're willing to send to other countries

I think it came out great.  Shame this stuff isn't too friendly to single-based models.  :'(

Real nice game mat!  I have been thinking about trying this on a smaller scale.  How do you think it would behave if added in strips or small irregular shapes on a forest template?
I was thinking about using these tutorials.

Since you have worked with it, your two cents would be valuable.

Nice work, I've been trying, unsuccessfully so far, to get some teddy bear fur but no-one around here seems to stock it.
