Wow, some lovely work! Nice work on the shield Vonkluge.

Thanks ELK,

The shields were a scary thought when I started painting the Normans :o and I came very close to just ordering some transfers, but I wanted to be able to say "yes I painted those" without having to say, "except the shields" besides they would be a challenge and challenging paint jobs make you a better painter, and are fun! It takes a lot longer but its a good feeling when it comes out. I have seen many armies built with transfers and they are great! I may still use some down the road on war bands I dont care so much about....but Normans are one of my favorite warbands in SAGA so I spent a lot of time on them, may not show as my painting style is very realistic, close up, and subdued. I do a lot of blending, washing, and feathering to make the figures look seamless, slower but I like the results. I'll soon post a few more shots of some of the better mini's when I can take more time on the photography! lol

I had to register just to get in on this. I am currently painting a medieval themed SoBH-warband in danish-esque liveries, as well as a bunch of WotR Perry-stuff, so the timing really is perfect.

No. 80 - Billman from Em4/Grenadier/Mirliton

The paintjob got a bit wrecked by me putting on too much varnish, so the reds are more mute than I intended them to be. Overall, he's lovely though.

No. 82:  Teutonic Knight

Gripping Beast figure.  LBM shield transfer.

This is the last of my Teutonic Knights, and my personal favourite from the set.

Here are the boys altogether.   :)

Another great addition to the collection, Richard.

You are pretty damn prolific at the moment.
Is there no DIY you should be doing instead?

Ha!
I spent the whole of April - August demolishing walls and putting in a new kitchen. Plus directing a big open air Shakespeare. Plus launched a new version of my writing website. Plus the day job, family, and everything else obviously...  ::)
Apart from one or two figures for the Ancients Painting Club, I don't think I painted a thing for almost 6 months. And strangely, I didn't miss it, so I guess I needed a break...
I've learned over the years: don't try and force yourself to paint if the mood isn't upon you. Just paint like Bejasus when it is!
Now I've hit a full-on PPP (purple painting patch), and I'm churning out all sorts while I have the mojo back. (Fear not, it will disappear again within a few weeks, I have no doubt  ;))
