Well I've lead an evil life, so they say, but I'll outrun the Devil on judgement day.

Another of the 9 Norman Knights recently done for my SAGA warband. I sort of rushed some of these guys wanting to get out on the field of honor, but they came out ok I think. I have been working on speeding up my painting since I do blocks of 8-20 figures much of the time and shaving off 5-10 miniutes can be quite a savings when you times it by 8-20 figures! I find myself using a hairdryer more often to speed the drying process for some steps, but you have to be careful as some steps like washes when rushed can turn out BAD!

No-95  Norman Knight / Gripping Beast casting

The shield is painted and I'm working on making the battle damage look "real". The horse was modified by cutting, filling, and bending his legs to give a much more dynamic pose. The horse also has a lot more subtle depth to it but its lost in the photography.... >:(

That Pedlar is stunning, Admiral.
Great attention to detail.

Keep these Normans coming, Vonkluge.
They are great inspiration for my next project.

Giles, you rebel...
Somewhat shiny, but I like the Sheriff's pose.

Great work on that Norman shield Bill. The battle-scarring works a treat.

Michael, that is one characterful miniature. Just goes to show that sometimes the old ones are the best  :)

Making sure I went to bed twice and woke up twice before posting another "SAGA NORMAN"..... lol! I have not taken the time or effort with some of these as they are part of "lower class" units and not worth the detail of the knights or "warlord / character" figures and need to get painted and in the fight, this shows when I look at them before posting but I think they will be more than acceptable on the table ;)

If that is the detail you get when you are not taking the time and effort I look with great anticipation to seeing your warlord figure. I think  this figure and the other crossbowmen you have posted here are very good.

Dang! Captain B. Your Scottish Merc's are so good looking and colorful it makes me want to get into yet another period......did they really look like that? Man the assembled army or group will be stunning! Please slip in a picture of the group! o_o I'm working on the Dark Ages and have to rein in on making the figures as colorful as I'd like since the "Dark Ages" were in fact DARK, smelly, dirty, full of woe and death, and a rather unpleasant place to be most of the time. lol

If that is the detail you get when you are not taking the time and effort I look with great anticipation to seeing your warlord figure. I think  this figure and the other crossbowmen you have posted here are very good.

Thanks Moonshadow! I just notice things when taking the pics and looking at enlarged views that I would have or could have fixed or done better but then no-one will see that in a game and if I did that amount of work on every figure I never finish anything because I'm not a single figure painter as such but working on armies of 50 to 400 figures in scales from 15 to 28mm. The Warlord figure is done now and in the line to be "shot" and posted soon! 8)

Speaking of that Warlord figure...if there is more than one figure on the base should it be listed as one "entry" number or two? Welf VIII? Captn?

Just counts as one entry Bill, albeit more than one figure on a single base.
Get in quick, you're going to be number 100  ;)

No. 100  William the Bastards Papal Banner bearer

The flag staff is steel and the flag is cut from copper sheet and hand painted as is the shield. The flag staff has been hammered to give a wide blade like final (top) and then filed to shape. Yes it really helps with those clumsy gamers that tend to lean over the table and squash your figures under hand!
