In my convalescence I've managed to finish off a couple of figures and did them in one go which bodes well for the future

The NMM looks a treat on the helmet bu Tim not so sure about the sword.

Not knocking the figure as a whole of course, damn sight better than what I can do

I am, it's turned out how I wanted it to.

The shield on the other hand looks decidedly shabby and I'm not happy with it.

Jim B, love those "Japanese" makes me want to go that direction soooo bad.... perhaps a SAGA Samurai war band in 28mm.....hmmmm You painting is great, the color palette is perfect and like me you seem to be painting and building lots of stuff which limits the time you can realistically spend on any given figure. I often look at finished figure and think "ohh I could have done this better or different" but if I did not put the brush down at some point I never get a game going...

Cubs,  very nice work!!! the metal work is amazing, love both the helmet and sword!   I think the shield is fine, but the angle of the photo makes it look so predominate in the frame that the flatness is what bothers one. Is it a "transfer"? I think that a bit of splattered mud would help. I use a lot of "3 dimensional mud" on my WWII vehicles, works well. You take some fine powder, Durhams rock hard wood filler, talcum powder, or even ground colored chalk, mixed with some wood or PVA type glue, color it to taste with brown ink or paint and "dab" on. Might just ad a bit of roughness there, but even with out I love the gritty look of that Viking!

Quikworthy, Great work on a great figure, make a good bezerker, you did a nice job of making him look "Tough as Nails"

Yeah, it's a transfer but I'm not wild about it to be honest. Also, I've just recently mixed up a new shade mix and I don't think it's quite right yet, so I haven't distressed the shield as well as I'd have liked. I think I need to do a bit more mixing before it's how I want it.

No. 172 - Another Berserker


Picture didnt come out as good as the previous one.

The colourscheme for this guy is a lead up from the previous one - First one had the primary colours, this one is all secondaries (The beard is orange/red)

Also tried out some wounds, which I think turned out pretty good.
