Go with the Nieuport for the Reds. There are some nice historical schemes. I believe that very few SpadXIIIs were purchased as they were only really coming into production a few months prior to the outbreak of the Revolution. The main Spad type used was the Spad VII but hey, a Spad is a Spad in my book.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. The Reds will get the Nieuport in a silver/white scheme with red stars everywhere; the Whites will get the Spad in tan with roundels and possibly a death's head on the tail.

The Spad 13 apparently never did make it to Russia, but like you said, the 7 did and they're physically quite similar.

I'd forgotten about the website "Wings Palette" until rediscovering it this evening. It's Russian, and has a huge number of colour plates scavenged from all over the place. Here's their Red Nieuports: http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/f/113/1/0
and their Imperial Russian Spad VII page: http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/f/257/22/0

Interestingly, the Reds appear to have put red stars on the horizontal stabilizers of some of their aircraft as well as the wings and fuselage. I don't think I've ever seen that done before.

I swore I'd finish the White Russian infantry first, but I am weak and have allowed myself to start building the SPAD up for the Whites instead.

Build thread is over here in Back of Beyond.

Picked up a cheap copy of Chaz Bowyer's RAF Operations 1918-1938 and then one thing lead to another...

Corgi diecast Hawker Hart. Beautifully detailed little model. Eventually it will end up flying over the NWF, bombing rebellious Afridis. Squadron scheme is wrong of course but it's such a nice job on the model I can't be bothered repainting it.

Rebellious Afridi? I think he's patched up his differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board, actually. He played in the recent series against England.

So you won't need it now.

 lol lol lol lol lol

Well given how fractious the Pakistani cricket scene is, I'm sure it will come in handy sooner or later. I'd give odds on it. Actually, that's probably redundant, I can almost certainly find a Pakistani cricketer who'll give me better odds. Just ask Shane Warne.  ;)

If I'd had the money I'd of got both, just annoyed that the weather isn't any good for spraying so I can't start painting it.

Hmmmm, both look good, but torn between the tiger striped AH7 and the attractive ugliness of the RN Lynx!

Felixstowe F.2a, Hansa Brandenburg CC, Sopwith Baby, all thru Shapeways, 1/144 floatplanes. The Felixstowe is enormous for its scale. Decals to use on the GB were delivered yesterday.  :-*
