Phew, that's a really cool pose you have there in the first shot Messy. You need a wee cowering wastelander down there in that hole (pointing a .32 pistol at the beast obviously). Hmn, I really like that pose actually looking at it again. I may take that as an excuse to pick up another. The question is did you ever get back to working on that mind control head gadget doodad carbuncle thingy?

...Sorry my gibberish turned a little manky at the end there. Carbuncle?

Ooh, he's coming along too. Is that an entirely new sculpt or did you cut up and redo one of the older ones you had? I'm seeing a lot of reposability (which is totally a word) with that guy. I wouldn't mind at all to get my hands on a few and do them up with some scrap armour. ...Maybe a suit too. No, better to leave New Reno Mafia style mutants to someone else. :)

A hell of a lot of good work as usual mate. Anyhow... :D

Ah, or youknow keep on posting so much great stuff...if you want.

I started up Mutant V2 and left the old chunky version in a box. It's going to become a big-ass multi-part set. The guy I posted is a one-off body who's been posed for a minigun, I just found that the rifle fit about right too.
So far I've only got two sets of legs for it, but there're a few more coming. Will cast up a few and work some armour onto them once I have a completed bunch of them. c:
Then I'm getting tempted to make about 10 humans. 5 of each gender in various poses. Starkers of course, so I can cast a butt-load of man-nequins. Sculpt on various armours and clothing styles for a bunch of wastelanders/ factions.

I do still have the mind control bits lying around somewhere. Will probably just make a new one though.
If you'd like an apocalyptic monster in 28mm, throw me a PM and I'll think it over.

The armour would be an addon rather than completely new body parts right? Or you could do an fully armoured version as an alternative model. If you're working on weapons would you be making scrap/home made style ones as well? Whilst human sized ones are doable, it'd be easier just to make big mutant scaled ones too right? Youknow, clubs made out of rebar, bumpers, spears and the like.

Ooh, regular humans would be cool too. Ah, and making armatures would be a good idea as well (rather than going my route and being lazy just using cheap Wargames Factory models). There's a definite interest out there for those as well. Hmn, though didn't you already have a few chucking about before?

Their weapons will be pretty simple. I'm keeping the human-scale ones I already made (the super sledge certainly looks funny held in one hand!) for them, same with the guns.
I should try to cast the minigun and missile launcher again.

Well, I'll be going down the same route as I'll take with the humans. Bunch of parts all the same, create variants with different armour sets and have them all available. The nekked ones too, so people can work on their own armour or paint them up like they wear gimp suits or something.
So where it comes to their melee weapons, I'm going to put together a few sets of arms that can hold melee weapons in either one-hand or two-handed poses and a few simple weapons. Will be more fun to let you guys stick alternatives in their grubby little paws..

...Paws..
That's something else I've been meaning to start on..

Do you sell to the US? I'd certainly be interested in some of your stuff.  8)

I've sold all over the place so far  lol

These guys should be ready to cast in a day or two, then I'm putting the mutants back on a short hold to finish off parts for the dragon so I can get him casting again.

Hey, I haven't seen those radioactive cockroaches in ages. ...That's cheating!

So what do those baths look like once they've hardened? You then need to chip the pieces out from them right? ...Sorry I haven't done any mold casting since I was at school. What about all the excess material, can you melt that down again or is it junk?

I look forward to not having the money to eat this month anyway. :D

The RTV can be cut into tiny shreds and re-used but it can lead to air bubbles and weaknesses in the mold walls.
The resin I suppose could be stuck into a grinder with a vacuum attached so you can mix the powder into fresh resin as a filler but that'd be a pain in the ass.

Once the first layer is done it.. Well, looks like a thick lump of pink stuff that's flappy and squidgy.
Then I try to carefully get all of the parts into the RTV in the right places. I think one of the vents is going to give me headaches 'cause I was stupid and buried most of it into the plastecine. It's a bit bent out of shape and the plastecine is holding it that way.
Given that most of it is mounted there; the mold half I've made, when I put that vent piece back into it; probably won't have enough depth to keep the shape and I'll end up with wonky mold halves. Not too much of a problem but  >:(

Pff, your money is safe. These are cheap as the chips they no doubt wish they could eat.

I've been using a one peice 'split mold' technique, seems to work pretty well. I never had wonderful results with the two part plasticine method.

Your stuff is looking great though!

Ever taken photos so I can see how you do things?

Hehe, I don't suffer the way I do it beyond a little bit more preparation time. If I compared current molds to the ones I made when I first started too.. Good lord.

No, I've not taken process pics. I'm going to be making some molds soonish and I can try to get some then.

Few venting issues to fix and then they're ready. c:
