Wagons Roll!.... Upsheet Creek Expands UD:15/01
« Reply #450 on: 15 January 2014, 09:35:31 AM »
I finally got around to working on some locomotive power for those pencil sharpener wagons that were finished some time ago.
I was having some trouble sourcing some suitable draft animals, until my ERTL cows arrived from across the pond....so I thought: 'Why not give those a go?'

So here they are with their wagon...

Not the best paint job in the world, but I have not painted cattle before and I think that they are passable.
Here's hoping everyone else does....

Clearing things up on my photobucket also meant that I found this piccie of Red-Eye Jack testing out the trapdoor on the gallows.....

...it does seem to show the platform floor quite well so I thought I would pop it on here rather than delete it.

The cows and wagon have come up a treat. :)

I was not a fan of the pencil sharpener variety, but you have done a good job on this one to alter my opinion. :)

Aha!
Mama approves!
Great news, as I did not want them banned from crossing the river to San Antonio de Bejar.
 ;)

Bloody hell!
You mean to tell me that there is something that you have not already added to Drake's Branch?
Well, these here pencil sharpeners are so cheap that cost cannot be an excuse... ;)

Just simple drybrushing, there is already a texture to the plastic roof.
 ;)

I forgot to take some scale comparison pics when I took these earlier, as has requested a few times.
I will take some this afternoon and post them later.

Don't worry you'll be fine as old San Antone is on the Texas side of the Rio Grande. ;)

No illegals then... ;)

And here they are..... :D

Early evening in Upsheet Creek...

Pencil Sharpener Wagon with Foundry Civvies....'Pink Lady' in the background is Reaper.

Pencil Sharpener Stagecoach with Foundry Lady and Boot Hill Trapper....

Pencil Sharpener Wagon, (without cover) with Boot Hill Trapper...

I think that they will work pretty well with most figures, as Foundry make for a pretty good average.
These are the larger Foundry figures, by the way, not the ikkal bikkal 25mm range.
 ;)

I do not have any Black Scorpion miniatures painted up yet, but will see what they look like when I do...

Those wagons do look pretty good. The stagecoach is the only one that might look to be a little on the small side but the freight wagons look about right. There was a lot of variance in wagon sizes.

Excellent Paul, I was thinking the wagons would look small but they don't look small at all  8)

Thanks, Heisler.
I agree that the stagecoach does look a little smaller, at the moment.
I am confident that it will look just fine once it gets its horses, and more importantly, its base.

Glad that it is pushing your buttons..... ::)

Thanks, Mama!
I had a feeling that this type of shot may well appeal to your aesthetic principals.
 :D

Cheers, Chris!
You did see them before any work was done to them at all, box fresh so to speak.
Wait until they all have bases and hopefully you wont even notice that they are pencil sharpeners any more.

There sure is, Giles.
This is the link to the European branch...

...helps to avoid all those nasty Customs and Post Office fees.
 ;)

Postage is a minimum 9 Euros or so, so a bulk order pays off more.

I bought seven, and with postage it worked out at less than a fiver each.
Very cheap!

Avoid the ones with horses attached.
They are crap horses and cast onto the cart with a huge metal contraption.
I am going to get a fella in the workshop at work to remove mine as it would be a nightmare with hand tools.
Dont touch them!
