Thanks for passing on the link, Treebeard.

CV: They are good value, mate, but do need a little work to modify them.
Not much, though.
Just cover up the pencil holes and raise the seating area a little.

Go back a few pages if you want to see what I did to them, or not.

Dont forget, though: Dont touch the ones with the horses. They are too much hard work to remove to bother with those ones.

A second wagon finished.... Upsheet Creek Expands UD:19/01
« Reply #471 on: 19 January 2014, 10:20:20 PM »
I managed to finish off another pencil sharpener wagon today.

I opted for a much easier colour scheme on the oxen* this time and it saved a lot of time.
A simple bit of basing and 'Bob's yer mothers brother!'

*More ERTL cows were used.

With the other one....

The start of what will hopefully become a wagon train, which will allow a variety of different scenarios in future,
The next wagon will be the open-topped version, but drawn by mules this time.

:-* I love your basing Paul, very cheerful!! The cows look just the part.

If you keep up this rate you will have enough to circle the wagons and have a prairie battle! Get some Indians!! :D

Cheers

I am glad that you approve of the 'cows'.
I was a little apprehensive about using them but they seem just fine to me.

Thanks, Mama!
I have to thank you for the pictures of your own wagons.
Very inspirational and they helped me to make a suitable yoke, as I was not sure how far to go with the realism aspect.

You may have stated that somewhere, but are the oxen Hereford or something else?

EDIT:

And are they 1/64 or 1/32 - googling brings up both...?

COOL! Now all you need to complete the Wagon Train is a mini that looks like Ward Bond.

I dont think that I will be doing quite THAT many wagons in the near future, though.
