Thanks, I hate to threaten companies like this, but it seems like that is the only way to actually get the things I paid for. But such is the crowd-fund blues I guess.

I had waited for over two years before doing that.
Two years of the company ignoring any form of contact.
I even told them that I would just like a refund, simple as that.
Ignored.

You have waited even longer so I think that it is fully justified.

Nothing "Sci-Fies" a building like an antenna cluster perched like a chimney on the roof-peak. Best part is that you can make it a simple removable piece. Another nice one is a solar array that hangs down one side of the roof - and those are dirt-simple to make!

Looks like fun.

Yep, you are right.
All on the list, along with a bunch of other stuff like air-con units and neon signs....when I get the time, that is.

But, yes, it is fun.
 :D

Lamp Post question.... The Town of Upsheet Creek UD:15/01
« Reply #2838 on: 15 January 2016, 10:02:33 AM »
Another shot of the set-up of a recent Inquisimunda game making more use of some of the Old West scenery...

There is a more OW relevant reason behind the posting of this picture, though..... ;)

After seeing Elbows' recent update which included his new lamp posts it got me thinking along similar lines.
I already have some posts that I made for gaming, they were converted from GW pieces and toned down a bit to use in other genres.
I have used them as ornate 'Victorian-style' lamp posts in Strange Aeons and no-one seemed to be too offended (they were probably not even noticed!).

They will obviously work in a sci-fi setting, as they are utilised in the picture above, but do you think they would 'work' in an Old West setting?

What do you reckon?

(Not the best picture, I know, but I am sure that it shows enough to give an idea...)

No, I regret I don´t think so. The y don´t look like a gas or oil lamp of any sort. Cast iron pillars would be too precious for old west frontier towns too. I´d rather expect to see such in wealthy brick built towns of east coast New England states. However these look rather steampunky to me though (a particular Victorian/art deco mixture).

I'd say no as well. They don't 'gel' if that's the right word.

cheers

Nice lamp posts matey but I have to agree with the wise men above.

Depending on how late in the century your setting is I see lamp posts in more established areas around that time looking like this:

Than again they may be too ornate.  ::)

Don't!

Can I join the chorus of  negativity ?!  :D

Don't do it Paul: you have a cracking Old Wild West table and adding streetlights will take it Wild West Steam Punk.  ;)

I'll go contrarian and say that lampposts can fit and have a solid historical pedigree for the period, but along the lines of Thunderchicken's example, definitely not the GW ones.

Of course there is solid historical justification for fire hydrants very early on also, but folks see those as anachronistic even though I can think of several ghost towns nearby where the hydrants are all that remain.

Yeah they definitely don't fit.  But...would it snap me out of the Old West frame of mind if I was playing?  I'm not sure.

While we're speaking of lighting, does anyone know where you can find 28mm scale kerosene lanterns?  I thought about mounting some on some of my scenery/buildings.

 lol lol lol

That seems a pretty consensual bunch of responses.....'NO' to the lamp posts in the Old West setting!
 ;)

It was just a quick 'would this work?' and I certainly did not expect that many responses.
Thanks for taking the time to reply, chaps, it is good to put that brainwave to rest.
They shall stay firmly in the other settings and well clear of Upsheet Creek.
 :D

I have some among the sale goods on my Hardware Store.....

....from Tiger Miniatures.

Which I may now have to decorate the rest of the town with as there are no lamp posts.... :D
