Much concurrence. That's good - no squabbling here in Medieval, only civilised, learned discourse. How refreshing  :D

Much unlike the WotR then  lol

The OP mentioned WotR and ship actions:  FWIW I recollect that about 2 years ago WSS had an AAR on a sea action and about a year ago didn't the Perrys do something with a harbour and boats?
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Yes, I saw images of that - that's what inspired the idea.
I have now almost finished building a cog (or something that look similar enough for my purpose), I'll post some pictures as soon as it's complete.

Cheers,
Shandy

Look forward to seeing your ship.

There are some pics of the Partizan game mentioned above, on my blog, if that is of any help?

Try here: http://harness-and-array.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/medieval-games-with-ships-at-partizan.html

Cheers, simon.

So now I'm in trouble - got to deliver  :)
Seriously, thanks for the interest, this inspires me to make an effort to finish. Might take some time, though, as I'll be away for work for the rest of the month. And I have to paint up some crewmen.
And thanks for the link, Simon, but I've already seen the pictures - I'm a follower of your inspiring blog!

Crewmen- ie sailors for a ship?

That might be a thing worth mentioning to Michael Perry.... hint.... hint....  ;) :)

Pretty sure some of the WOTR labourers would work well enough as sailors :)

Finding suitable figures isn't too easy - I'm doing it in 15mm, so no Perrys to help. However, if there is any sculptor who would like to make 15mm medieval sailors, please do not hesitate contacting me!
At the moment, I have collected some artillery crew which fit - Donnington make a chap shielding his eyes who is perfect for a lookout or navigator: http://shop.ancient-modern.co.uk/arthy17-late-medieval-crewman-1948-p.asp
I'm still looking for rowing figures for the ship's boat - do you have any suggestions? I might try the Essex Viking crew, if I only use the ones without helmet they could work. The rowing pirates I have looked at (e.g. Peter Pig) seem to look too much like, well, pirates.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted!

Cheers,
Shandy
