do you recognize these minatures?
« on: November 12, 2013, 05:47:10 PM »
my first guess was reaper & citadel old LoTR but I would say I missed both.

I didn't find them on the sites I have browsed (SoL, etc)
The metal based has no inscriptions in the base, and even the shape of the base don't looks like the bases from grenadier or RP.
The slotta one has writen "HASIM" in the front of the slotta but nothing on the back, nor GW, or Marauder, or TSR nothing.
I will keep them since I find they are nice sculpts, but feel curios about their manufacturer

The left one is a Citadel Chaos Warrior, have him too.
The other one I don't know, sorry.

I think the one on the left is a Ral Partha Saracen from a 80's box set. I will have a look and see if I have the box still, have the Saracen somewhere. The other guy stumps me as well, but would like to have one.

I'm sure he's a Citadel mini;)

I used to own the one on the right and I think he's a champion from a Citadel Regiment of Renown. Mad Mullah Akland's regiment seems to fit, but they were pre-slotta, so that one has me scratching.

EDIT: Aha! I've found it! Apparently the Regiments of Renown received a 'Champion' model (as character option) with the advent of the 2nd Edition Warhammer rules, whereas previously the regiment boxes had consisted of Leader, Musician or Standard Bearer with 8 troopers. Perhaps Hasim was introduced post-slotta as the Champion for the pre-slotta Mad Mullah Akland regiment?

Now I've written it, it's sounding kind of familiar to me.

interesting....he clearly doesn't have an integral base in that photo...it must have been right on the cusp of the advent of slottas.

thank you gentlemen! you really nailed it.
I will never get used to recognize miniatures with the art of the old citadel catalogs, but at ccm they have a photo of the chaos warrior

Regarding the bald guy I'm surprised too by the fact he was the only one without base from this set, maybe was one of the first model to be released like that and this would explain why don't has the standard logo on the back.
Anyway, thanks!

Renown received a 'Champion' model (as character option) with the advent of the 2nd Edition Warhammer rules,
doubtless that would explain why on the link a SoL there are two rooster, the 1st only stats only troops and the second stats troops and two heroes, one of them "Hasim Eunoch Champion", funny since I was thinking he would make a great job as Harem guard

Note that he also seems to appear in the Iron Wind Metals shop (ie. ex-Ral Partha)

This figure cropped up in another recent thread...

Perhaps Citadel sold some of the old moulds to Ral Partha (or vice-versa) when they discontinued the model?

All (well, most) of the pre-slotta regiment of renown have a slotta champion that was added to the set at a later stage (after slotta bases had been introduced). They are usually rather rare, so hang on to it or sell it dearly. A few got recycled (like Mengil Manhide's champion). Others weren't (such as Hasim, or the peg-legged dwarf from the first Bugman's).

Pretty close to the Citadel mini, though the Citadel one has a Chaosstar on the shoulderarmour, which the Ral Partha seems not to have, also the arms are little different, the crossguard etc
